Player Unknown Battlegrounds has been growing consistently over the last few years. And since its introduction in 2017, PUBG has changed the shooter genre. This has made players more competitive, strategic, and just all-around better. The realism makes PUBG stand out from the other battle royals, and how that can make the game more immersive, especially when players are playing with others. PUBG can have a steeper learning curve than other battle royals like Apex Legends, but at the same, it can be quite engaging. PUBG is in a different place now than what it was, first by going free-to-play, and second with the addition of more maps and modes. The newest map, called Deston, which is one of the bigger maps will push players over the edge. Being a truly diverse map, with urban areas, open landscapes, and islands that can only be reached by boat will have players creating new ways to take down enemies. However, unlike the other maps, Deston is quite different because of the different types of locations on the map. Players will need to play this map differently, hopefully, these tips will help them get that coveted chicken dinner.
5 Use Open Spaces
The one thing that stays consistent in all maps in PUBG is the number of open spaces there are. With little to no cover, nor any place to escape to, they become deadly for players running in them. This helps other players get easy kills as well, as long as they are in cover. Typically, if players are in open areas, they should get out there as quickly as possible. Now, since Deston is a huge map, these open areas are just as big, so players who are caught in them will get picked off easier. Since PUBG has introduced the ability to use drones, players should utilize them.
These drones help players scout with the safety of distance, which helps them plan the attack better. So having a drone fly over these open areas allows the player and their squad to get a head start advantage, all without putting themselves in danger.
4 Use Buildings
This is a rule of thumb that applies to all maps in PUBG. However, for the Deston map, it's way more important. Because the map itself is massive, buildings are more spaced out, this makes it easier for players to go get caught in a firefight. Players can use these buildings to regroup, loot, or hold until they need to move on. In a firefight, players should head to a building if they are near one because the fight becomes more tangible.
Since PUBG is more fluid now, fighting in a building is easier because the game itself is less clunky. As mentioned before, players can use these buildings to loot, which is probably the second most important reason to use them. Depending on where players land, they can get better gear, which allows them to fight more aggressively. Plus, if players are situated correctly, they can use the buildings to pick off enemies running away from the storm.
3 Play Balanced
Each match of PUBG is different from the other, so if players play aggressively all the time, they'll have a harder time. So the best way for players to win is by balancing how they play. They should act depending on what's going on, and how set up they are. For example, if players are low on resources like ammo or health, fighting back wouldn't be the best idea. PUBG, in general, can be hard, especially for newcomers, but if they make their play style contextual, learning the game becomes easier.
If players are constantly changing how they fight based on what's happening, they can easily overcome any situation. Being a map with distinct locations, each with its own personality, the Deston Map forces players to switch up how they play. So players would need to react differently every time they engage with an enemy because it will be different every time.
2 Vehicles
This tip is really important, not just for Deston, but for every map as well. They help get players get out of bad situations quickly. However, the Deston map as mentioned before is one of the biggest maps in PUBG, so using vehicles when playing on this map is a good idea. And since there are tons of open spaces, and places where care packages could drop, having one will help a lot. Getting care packages in general regardless of where players are playing PUBG can be difficult.
Having a vehicle close by as soon as players hear a gunshot increases their odds of surviving. Getting care packages is worth it because they are filled with goodies, but it's even more so when the player and their squad is traveling in a car. Because players and the team can defend themselves better all while moving faster.
1 Get To High Places
Since the Deston map is probably the most distinct map in PUBG with many locations, all different from the others, players will experience a different type of game. Using high places in PUBG is a staple tip, however, it's more pronounced in this map. The Deston map features the tallest building in PUBGs history, players can use it and others like it to snipe easily. Using a higher point allows players to have a vantage point, and pick places where they want to go, and fire at enemies off in the distance.
Higher places are great because players don't have to move much, provided the buildings are in the circle. On top of that, players who get to a high spot near the end can control the match at that point. Because where they are at a high spot, the enemy may not be where they are, so players can use that for their benefit. However, players should be careful, if they are in these high locations, they could draw attention to them. Especially if they are fighting, so players should always use these areas when there are fewer players alive in the match.
