Tencent’s Lightspeed and Quantum Studios have revealed the next significant crossover event for PUBG: Mobile, the handheld portable version of the prevalent battle royale shooter. While the last major PUBG: Battlegrounds update introduced a revamped Zombie Survival mode, this latest PUBG: Mobile update will incorporate exclusive themed items based on one of anime's most acclaimed franchises.

For the uninitiated, the free-to-play mobile game PUBG: Mobile pits 100 players against each other across a vast open island map. By pillaging their surroundings, players can load up on the weapons and ammo spread out everywhere, as well as wearable items like armor. This simple yet addictive premise made PUBG: Mobile a viral smash hit with gamers. However, to keep the gameplay feeling fresh for experienced players, the developers have consistently updated the game with complimentary DLC installments - something of which PUBG: Mobile has seen no shortage of as countless collaborations and expansions have come to the game.

Now, just like with the various Spider-Man-themed content added to Fortnite recently, PUBG: Mobile has likewise confirmed that more collaboration content is coming. According to PUBG: Mobile’s official website, players from around the world can prepare to see the crime and thriller anime series Black Lagoon make its way into the game.

Fortunately, much like the previous PUBG: Mobile crossover with K-pop group Blackpink, the update will include exclusive event skins that will be “stylish and hard-boiled,” fitting with the noir iconography of the original manga material. Although, aside from a summation of the game and the general plot of Black Lagoon, the developers are rather tight-lipped about content specifics. The site provides very minimal information on what will come within the update as "coming soon" constraints cover the entire page.

On top of this, the collaboration looks to be strictly exclusive to the Japanese version of PUBG: Mobile because details of this update are only available on the PUBG MOBILE JAPAN site and not PUBG NORTH AMERICA. Nevertheless, Lightspeed affirms that fans of Black Lagoon and players alike will be able to explore the crossover when it releases in March 2022.

In summary, considering that details of this crossover are in short supply at this moment in time, gamers can only wait for potential announcements to see exactly how it plays out. Regardless, the information available should be enough for many anime fans to be at least intrigued by what may come to PUBG: Mobile.
