A K-pop girl group is coming to shape PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds with their very own crossover event, bringing along many more in-game items, special missions, and themed map elements.

Currently, the most subscribed-to music group on YouTube and the first Korean group to reach 1 billion views on YouTube, Blackpink is a talented assemblage of singers that have amassed a solid, record-selling discography. Although some may think Blackpink is an odd choice for a PUBG collaboration, this would not be the first time the singers have invaded the incredibly popular battle royale. The hit song “How You Like That” was also previously featured in PUBG Mobile for a short time, prior to the release of their upcoming album.

This latest update was announced with a trailer. In the action-packed teaser, a squad of soldiers speed through the sky before deploying their K-pop themed parachutes. Players also get a glimpse of the latest hot-pink weapon skins and helmets, before the cinematic finishes on the entire lobby of players comically breaking out into a dance. With the somewhat quirky reveal over, the update is said to equally come with a slew of contemporary content in PUBG such as a new airdrop design, emotes, and many more cosmetics.

In total, there are 35 unique items being introduced to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. The band members will have their own cosmetic bundles, each of which includes exclusive "themed hair, an outfit, a nameplate, helmet, weapon and emote." These bundles will be purchasable from August 4 until the end of the year. Although, it should be noted that none of the cosmetics directly reference the likenesses of any band members, which was emphasized during the announcement with Krafton stating "Blackpink face items [are] not included."

In addition, players will now be able to participate in "special in-game event missions" to earn points. These missions consist of surviving to the top 10 in PUBG and lasting over 15 minutes in a match without dying. If a player manages to earn a decent amount of points, they can acquire some exclusive Blackpink-themed items, including a level three helmet and contraband coupons. But players will have to act fast, as these items will only be available between August 18 and September 7.

Furthermore, Krafton has updated the PC version of PUBG with the newly released Taego map. Now, when waiting aboard the starting plane, there's now a possibility that the aircraft will explode when approaching the map. The effect is unpredictable and starts with the plane engines catching fire, forcing anyone who doesn't jump before the plane explodes out and losing half their initial health.

PUBG is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
