The official website for Psycho-Pass revealed a new trailer at the end of last week for Psycho-Pass Providence, the series' 10th anniversary film. The latest trailer revealed both the opening and ending song for the movie, both of which are performed by artists that have done music for the series before. These songs are performed by Ling Tosite Sigure and EGOIST.

Psycho-Pass Providence is the latest in a long string of titles in the Psycho-Pass series. Psycho-Pass first aired as a 22-episode anime back in 2012, and was well-received across the board. It is set in a cyberpunk, dystopian world where investigators work alongside criminals called Enforcers to keep the peace. People are scanned using a biomechatronic computer system that determines if they are innocent or not - and whether they can be killed by a special weapon called a Dominator.

Because Psycho-Pass did so well in its first season, it was renewed for a second season of 11 more episodes in 2014, and then its first film in 2015. Then, throughout 2019 a three-part film series was released called Psycho-Pass: Sinners of the System. The films came out in January, February, and March 2019 before Psycho-Pass 3 aired in October of the same year. Each of the season's 8 episodes were an hour long.

Now, Psycho-Pass is back for more to celebrate its 10th anniversary by returning to its roots. Psycho-Pass Providence will be a cinematic version of the first series of the anime. Many of the original cast members are returning for the movie, including Kana Hanazawa as the main character Akane Tsunemori, and her co-stars Tomokazu Seki as Shinya Kougami and Kenji Nojima as Nobuchika Ginoza. Naoyoshi Shiotani is also returning as the director.

One of the most exciting parts of the trailer, though, is the aforementioned new music. The opening for Psycho-Pass Providence will be "Alexithymia Spare" by Ling Tosite Sigure, who also performed several other songs in the franchise including the original opening song "Abnormalise." They also did the opening for Psycho-Pass 2, "Enigmatic Feeling," and music for the Sinners of the System movies.

The ending will be "Tōjisha," performed by EGOIST. Their songs "Namae no Nai Kaibutsu" and "Fallen" were the ending songs for Psycho-Pass and Psycho-Pass 2 respectively. With their history of performances for the series, it makes sense that Ling Tosite Sigure and EGOIST are back for the latest installment.

Considering Psycho-Pass Providence is a celebration of the anime's success over the past ten years, having the two original artists return with new music for the movie is a perfect fit. Of course, it would have been just as easy to use the original songs one more time since the story is not changing, but two new songs really celebrate how far the anime has come - while still tying it to its roots ten years ago!
