Highlights

  • Possible Black Friday bundles combining Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X leaked online.
  • The leaked bundles appeared on several European versions of Amazon, starting at €489 and thus implying savings of around 20%.
  • Since both consoles are already cheaper in the US than in the EU, it remains to be seen if these deals materialize stateside.

Several possible PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X Black Friday bundles surfaced online, suggesting both Sony and Microsoft are planning to offer some substantial console savings later this month. The leak itself is EU-specific, so even if the containing information is accurate, it remains to be seen whether the stated savings will end up reaching the United States, as the PS5 and Xbox Series X are already cheaper stateside than in the rest of the world.

This year's Black Friday falls on November 24. But as is tradition, plenty of retailers and other companies have already started introducing attractive product offers in early November, and plan to continue doing so throughout the month. In terms of console savings, Walmart just announced a compelling pre-Black Friday deal on the PS5 bundle containing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which will retail at $499 from November 8, $60 down its regular price.

With two weeks to go until Black Friday, Target pulls back the curtain on a buy 2 get 1 free offer on video games, including some recent releases.

More such offers appear to be in the works, at least in Europe; as recently spotted by industry analyst MauroNL, a PS5 bundle containing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 just appeared on Amazon Germany, listed at €499, €120 down its originally announced price. The Xbox Series X version of the same bundle also reached the Dutch version of Amazon, priced at €489. The Dutch listing was seemingly removed within hours of its debut, while the German one is still live as of November 6. The latter is unsurprisingly listed as coming November 10, the date coinciding with Modern Warfare 3's global release.

While it's plausible that Sony and Microsoft are planning on debuting similar Black Friday deals in the United States, the extent of their potential stateside savings might not necessarily reach the 20% price cuts implied by these newly leaked EU listings. That's largely on account of the fact that U.S. consumers can normally purchase both the PlayStation 5 Disc Edition and Xbox Series X at $499 each, with the consoles thus already being up to 20% cheaper than in the European Union, depending on the exact market.

Sony and Microsoft certainly won't be the only console manufacturers to offer substantial console savings this November; Nintendo just revealed a dozen Black Friday deals of its own, including a $349.99 Switch OLED Model bundle containing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online subscription. The Japanese gaming giant is also set to offer a Switch Lite with Animal Crossing: New Horizons for $199.99 starting November 19, as well as a $299.99 Switch bundle containing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and three months of Nintendo Switch Online.
