With next-gen consoles swiftly approaching, things are heating up in the gaming world. So far, fans know more about the Xbox Series X than the PlayStation 5. They already know of at least fifteen games confirmed for the Xbox Series X! Nevertheless, both companies are going to have to ramp up their efforts to bring the best games possible.

Ultimately, the console with the best video games matters the most. A new round of console wars is upon gamers, and it's looking any platform can win. Both the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 are scheduled to release "Holiday 2020." Here are five sequels hopefully coming to the PlayStation 5 and five hopefully coming to the Xbox Series X.

10 Uncharted 5 (PlayStation 5)

uncharted 5

Naughty Dog's attention to detail in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End proves that they are one of the best developers around. The story plays like a movie, yet it has groundbreaking gameplay to tie in. Naughty Dog is a developer who releases great titles, and they are continually pushing innovation.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End concluded the series, which is why a prequel game is needed for the PlayStation 5.

9 Forza Horizon 5 (Xbox Series X)

forza horizon 4

The Xbox One may not have as many exclusives as the PlayStation 4, but the ones they do have are phenomenal. Forza Horizon is the spin-off racing series that takes place in an open-world. The game's free roam is unlike anything we've seen on PlayStation. Unless Gran Turismo goes open-world, the Xbox Series X will solidify itself as a unique platform for its unparalleled exclusives.

8 Crash Bandicoot (PlayStation 5)

The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was eye-opening. It showed us that Crash Bandicoot games are still relevant in this day and age. We've seen numerous sequels on handheld consoles, but it's been quite some time since a new Crash Bandicoot game released on a PlayStation console.

The PlayStation 5 should be the platform for the next Crash Bandicoot. As of now, there are no plans for a sequel. A next-gen game is what the PlayStation 5 needs as Crash Bandicoot remains to be one of the hottest IPs around.

7 Gears 6 (Xbox Series X)

gears 5

Gears of War is one of the few franchises that spans several games and is still running strong. The latest Gears of War game, Gears 5, was partly inspired by Super Mario Galaxy of all things.

Jack, one of the game's robots, used gameplay mechanics akin to Super Mario Galaxy's. The two games are very different, but it goes to show that developers The Coalition can be trusted with Gears 6. The cliffhanger at the end of Gears 5 practically demands a sequel.

6 Nioh 3 (PlayStation 5)

nioh 2

Dark Souls-like games are part of a saturated subgenre, which is why Nioh 2 was surprising. It changed enough to make it relevant as a Souls-like. The boss fights are grueling like any Soulsborne, yet it uses a loot system never before seen in the subgenre.

Team Ninja, the company behind games like Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, is likely working on a Nioh 3. Nioh 2 had a positive reception, so fans are hoping the sequel launches on the PlayStation 5.

5 Sea Of Thieves 2 (Xbox Series X)

sea of thieves

What started as a buggy experience with minimal content grew into one of the best games the Xbox One has to offer. Sea of Thieves will take you to a tropical oasis where you can plunder and combat loose-jointed skeletons.

Trading with various companies to earn gold is too fun in Sea of Thieves. Ubisoft's Skull & Bones is still on the back burner, but at least fans can enjoy Sea of Thieves in the meantime. It goes without saying that a sequel is wanted.

4 Spider-Man 2 (PlayStation 5)

spider-man

As possibly the most immersive open-world game on the PlayStation 4, Spider-Man is one of the most wanted PlayStation 5 sequels. Spider-Man doesn't contain a perfect replica of New York City. With locations like Central Park and Harlem, however, it's the best representation of New York City = seen thus far.

As a new game on the block, there is much to criticize about Spider-Man. The series is off to a good start, and fans are clamoring for a sequel.

3 Forza Motorsport 8 (Xbox Series X)

forza motorsport

Developer Turn 10 Studios is likely working on Forza Motorsport 8 unless Xbox Game Studios decides to do what they did with Project Gotham Racing and reinvent itself. Whether it's named 'Forza Motorsport' or not, a new racing game is undoubtedly in the works for the Xbox Series X. In the racing video game realm, there isn't a close competitor to Forza Motorsport.

2 God Of War 5 (PlayStation 5)

god of war

God of War (2018) was a massive success because of its addictive hack and slash gameplay and intriguing narrative. It took bold strides, ushering a new era for the God of War series.

This is yet another game that ended with a cliffhanger. All signs point to another God of War game releasing for the PlayStation 5, albeit Santa Monica Studio hasn't confirmed it.

1 Fable 4 (Xbox Series X)

fable

The Fable franchise is one of Xbox's remaining exclusives from the RPG genre. Its blend of fantasy and role-playing elements is masterful. The series has somewhat deteriorated since the second installment, yet it has the potential to return.

You might remember Xbox's canceled Fable MMORPG, Fable Legends. It was going to be free-to-play and showed much promise. It wouldn't be surprising to see Fable resurrected for the Xbox Series X.
