A talented PS5 owner-cum-Call of Duty fan has created a custom PS5 faceplate that features the popular CoD character Simon Riley, aka Ghost. Impressively, the console gamer took care of everything, from sketching to inking, on their own.
PS5's faceplates are quite a popular canvas for enthusiasts who like to personalize their items. In the past, fans have decorated their PS5 to showcase Alien, Predator, and other pop-culture mainstays. Lately, another PS5 gamer has turned the regular faceplate into his own work of art, inking the face of a popular Call of Duty character on it.
PlayStation is Starting to Feel the Sting from Microsoft's Bethesda Acquisition
It took a couple of years, but PlayStation is finally starting to feel the sting from Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda.
In a recent Reddit post, user Existing-Sample-3368 shared some images of his personalized PS5 faceplates that depict a hand-drawn face of Simon "Ghost" Riley from the Call of Duty games. The post gave a glimpse of the art process at each stage, from sketching to inking to the final product. While replying to one of the comments, the OP revealed that they used "professional automotive lacquer paint," also used for detailing on cars, for the custom faceplates. They also revealed using a clear polish to protect the art from any eventual wear and tear.
Among the comments, several users commended the author's work on his custom PS5 faceplates. In addition, a comment jokingly suggested that the OP should have drawn the "real PlayStation Ghost" instead of the Call of Duty character, alluding to Jin Sakai from the PlayStation first-party game Ghost of Tsushima.

A cosmetic edge PS5 has over the Xbox Series X/S comes down to the various different faceplates that players can purchase to personalize the former. The fact that Sony has designed the PS5's faceplates to be conveniently swappable further incentivizes players to try out new ones. While some fans have chosen to purchase unique custom faceplates for their console, others have given their faceplates a more personal touch with their own artwork.
As a matter of fact, the demand for custom PS5 faceplates has predated Sony's presence in this niche market. The console giant only started selling PS5 faceplates after it had to send multiple legal notices to third-party vendors who spotted the opportunity first.
