  • Returnal remains one of the best PS5 console exclusive games.

An announcement related to the critically-acclaimed roguelike third-person shooter game Returnal, a PlayStation 5 console exclusive, is being teased for Tuesday, April 30. Returnal was first released in 2021 and, at the time, it was one of the few true PS5 exclusive games. Fast-forward a couple of years, and Returnal is no longer a pure PS5 exclusive, but it remains one of the best games on Sony's platform.

Sony has released a Returnal PC port, giving PC gamers the chance to see what all the fuss is about. The PS5 version of Returnal has also received some important updates that have added new features and modes, giving the game significant value regardless of platform of choice. Now it seems something else related to Returnal is set to be announced soon, but it's anyone's guess as to what that may be.

Returnal developer Housemarque took to Twitter to release a teaser image for something Returnal-related that will apparently be revealed on Tuesday, April 30. The image doesn't give Returnal fans much to go by. It simply shows Returnal protagonist Selene's eyes in shattered glass with the word "TOMORROW" written in yellow letters. PS5 gamers will have to wait for April 30 to roll around before they know what the tease means for sure, but fans have their theories in the meantime.

Returnal Announcement Teased for April 30

The most optimistic of the bunch are hoping that this is a tease for a Returnal sequel, but that seems highly unlikely. After all, there are rumors that a PlayStation showcase is happening in May, and if those rumors are true, it would make a lot more sense to feature such a project at that event. Others think that this is Housemarque teasing new Returnal DLC or another big update for the game, but that is also somewhat hard to believe considering how long it's been since the last content drop. It's likely that the vast majority of the fanbase has since moved on to other games and may not be all that tempted to return to Returnal at this point. Then again, April 30 is Returnal's three-year anniversary, so maybe Housemarque is looking to give fans a reason to return to the tough-as-nails shooter.

Whatever the announcement ends up being, it's clear that PS5 gamers should keep an eye on Tuesday, April 30. It remains to be seen what exactly is going to be announced, but Returnal is one of the best PS5 console exclusives, and it seems that developer Housemarque has something up its sleeve.
