Although Sony fans might not have fully understood what Mark Cerny was saying during the PS5 tech reveal, there was a general sense that the game designer knows his stuff. Some, like the developers at Team Kill Media, might even call him a “genius.”

"We feel the man is an absolute genius! It felt like the system is designed with developers in mind. We are really excited about the Zen 2 CPU, which will make things possible on PS5 that were not on PS4. Also, the Tempest audio engine explanation made us squeal like little excited kids! The HRTF and sound experience that we will be able to create for our players is truly groundbreaking with the PS5."

Speaking with Official Playstation Magazine, TeamKill Media President Micah Jones had nothing but glowing praise for Cerny. He feels that Cerny and the PS5 team's design choices when it comes to the console's tech will greatly empower developers.

TeamKill is the developer working on Quantum Error, a horror first-person shooter that is aiming to launch alongside the PS5 (if everything goes according to plan). As a result, TeamKill has been working closely with the PS5 development kits to try to get the most out of their game.

According to Jones, the Quantum Error team is hoping to deliver a 60FPS experience on the existing PS4, while going all out for the PS5. He believes that Quantum Error could run at 4K resolution and 60FPS with the hardware that is available.

While Jones didn't give any hints as to how the PS5 will make TeamKill's goal a reality, his promise is enticing on its own. Listening to Cerny talk about the PS5 is enough to have anyone convinced that he and the team have put a lot of thought into the console's development, but it's only once gamers see the products in action that they will be able to verify the bold claims.

Cerny may be a genius, but as of right now no one outside of Sony's inner circle has seen a game running on the PS5. We know of some games – like Quantum Error, and Godfall, and Outriders – that will be available on the console, and have even seen some gameplay from those titles. But nothing has been labeled as running on a PS5.
