The PlayStation 5 is now only a few days away, and Sony just released a new trailer to promote the next-generation console. The trailer focused on the many games expected to release on the PS5. However, the preview's end contained a subtle confirmation of the release window of some of these games, including Horizon Forbidden West.

Eagle-eyed players should notice a small print within the ad indicating that Horizon Forbidden West is now expected to release within the second half of 2021. It's important to remember that Horizon Forbidden West will be released to both the PS4 and PS5, but the confirmation wasn't clear if the release window applies to both versions. However, without a clear explanation from Sony, players should assume that the late 2021 release window is for both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game.

Apart from Horizon Forbidden West, the ad also confirmed the release window of other PlayStation games. Launching in the first half of 2021 are Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Returnal. However, it is worth noting that all of those games are PS5 exclusives and won't have PS4 counterparts. At the moment, it is unclear whether Sony will make a proper announcement of the release window of the aforementioned games, but given that the company is bracing for the upcoming release of the PS5, it appears that this subtle note in the ad is the only thing players will get for now.

To the uninitiated, Horizon Forbidden West was first announced during the PlayStation 5 event last June. According to Sony, the sequel will continue the story of Aloy after the events of the first game. In the preview trailer released during the announcement, players will notice just how far Aloy and the world around her have changed ever since the events of the first game. The sequel is expected to revolve around Aloy's new life, but it appears that a storm is brewing in the background, indicating a new threat to Aloy's story.

A month after the announcement of Horizon Forbidden West, the official PlayStation magazine shed some light on the locations that players will explore in the upcoming game. It has been revealed that Horizon Forbidden West will take place between Utah and the Pacific Ocean, which means that Aloy will be traversing the areas of Nevada and California. Moreover, it appears that the city of San Francisco will play a huge role in the game.

Horizon Forbidden West is scheduled to release in late 2021 for the PS4 and PS5.
