Since the PlayStation 5 launched last November, PlayStation fans have only had one controller color to choose from. The plain white PS5 DualSense controller comes packed-in with every PS5 console, with fans able to purchase additional white controllers if they need any extras for local multiplayer or whatever else. But soon PlayStation gamers will have some new DualSense controller colors to choose from, as Sony has pulled the curtain back on two controllers coming this June.

Sony has officially unveiled the Midnight Black and Cosmic Red DualSense controller colors. The Cosmic Red controller sports a mostly-red design mixed with black, whereas the Midnight Black controller uses two different shades of black. Unfortunately, Sony was unable to provide a specific release date in June for the new DualSense controller colors, as it will vary by retailer. So anyone interested in the Cosmic Red or Midnight Black DualSense controller colors should keep an eye out starting next month.

Sony also didn't provide any pricing information for the new DualSense controller colors, but it's safe to assume that they will cost as much as the white ones. This means fans can expect to spend about $69.99 for the new controllers, which is quite steep, though understandable when one considers all the bells and whistles that the DualSense controllers bring to the table.

While Sony could have simply iterated on the DualShock style that it has perfected over the years from PS1 to PS4, it instead opted to be a bit more innovative when it comes to the PS5's controller. The PS5 DualSense has haptic feedback for better immersion, plus a touchpad, a microphone, and more. This ensures that the PS5 DualSense controller is capable of unique gameplay experiences that wouldn't necessarily be possible when using a more traditional gaming controller.

In the years ahead, fans can expect Sony to release more PS5 DualSense color variants, and it's possible that there will be new PS5 console colors as well. While Sony hasn't revealed any specific plans, it seems like a no-brainer to release swappable PS5 faceplates to allow users to better customize their consoles. And since the color black has been associated with the PlayStation brand for so long, it wouldn't be surprising to see Sony release an official black PS5 console that comes bundled with the Midnight Black controller.

Sony's future plans are unclear when it comes to PS5 hardware, but fans can look forward to the Midnight Black and Cosmic Red DualSense controller colors when they launch at an undetermined point in June.
