A new promotion will allow PlayStation Plus subscribers to purchase early access tickets to an upcoming film. With a bevy of exclusive Sony video game properties about to be translated to the big and small screen, it's not too much of a surprise to see PlayStation tie up a good deal with its releases. Movies such as Uncharted, The Last of Us, the upcoming Twisted Metal TV series, and the previously announced Gravity Rush film, are just some of the titles that PlayStation owners are very familiar with.

Meanwhile, early access is a concept not too foreign to today's gaming services. Xbox Game Pass is actually the most active service that provides a way to be able to play many new titles early. Pre-ordering select titles also grants users a few days in advance to enjoy their games. However, PlayStation Plus may be offering something new to the plate as it will allow current PS Plus subscribers a chance to buy tickets for one movie in a special screening.

As posted by Reddit user spudral, those who are currently subscribed to PlayStation Plus will have a chance to purchase early access tickets to a special screening of the upcoming movie Gran Turismo. The offer grants the user an opportunity to watch the film before it releases officially on August 9 in the UK. Gran Turismo will follow the real-life story of a teen who became a racer due to his skill in playing the game. While the post does not confirm whether the promotion is global, other news outlets have confirmed that Australia's PS Plus subscribers have also received a similar message endorsing the early access deal in their own country.

Users on spudral's post's comments section have expressed concern about the success of the film. However, one fan suggested ramping up the promotion by adding the critically acclaimed Gran Turismo 7 to PS Plus users' libraries. Although this sounds like a good idea, one reply speculated that perhaps Sony is hoping it works the other way around, and that GT7 sells more copies due to the new movie coming out.

Gran Turismo's stellar cast includes Orlando Bloom and David Harbour, big names in the film industry who have been in a few blockbusters themselves. While most racing video game to movie translations fail due to the lack of story, most fans are hoping the film succeeds, especially due to the names involved in the project. Hopefully, the early showing brings hype for the movie, and that it turns out positively so that momentum may be built for other upcoming videogame to movie adaptations in Sony's library.

Gran Turismo will be showing in theaters on August 8 in the US.
