Highlights

  • Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny and Tekken 6 are now available as standalone titles for PlayStation fans.
  • Previously, these games were only accessible through PlayStation Plus Premium, but now anyone can purchase them from the PlayStation Store for $9.99 each.
  • It's unfortunate that these games don't offer trophies, unlike some other titles added to PS Plus Premium, but they still provide an opportunity for more players to enjoy classic fighting games.

PlayStation fans can now purchase Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny and Tekken 6 as standalone titles, as they were previously available only through the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus. PS Plus Premium subscribers get a number of benefits over the other tiers, as members can play select PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP games at no extra cost.

Sony updates this list regularly, with new games coming to the catalog every month. Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny and Tekken 6 were both added to PS Plus Premium in October 2023, allowing fans to play these classic games as a part of their subscription service. However, these titles were only playable through PlayStation Plus Premium at the time. This move has now been reversed, as gamers can purchase both titles from the PlayStation Store.

PS Plus Extra is Losing 9 Games in January 2024

Sony updates the list the games leaving PlayStation Plus Extra in January 2024, confirming that users will lose access to 9 more titles.

Gamers on PS5 and PS4 can buy Tekken 6 and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny from the PlayStation Store, with each title priced at $9.99. As these games were previously locked behind PS Plus Premium, users had to subscribe to the highest tier to try them out. Fans should note that only the PSP versions of Tekken 6 and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny are available. Regardless, this move gives more players access to two classic fighting games for $9.99 each.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like trophies have been added to Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny and Tekken 6. On the other hand, the other two games that were added to PS Plus Premium in October, Ape Escape Academy and Kurushi Final: Mental Blocks, offered trophies for players to unlock. Trophies aren't mandatory for retro games being added to PS Plus Premium, even though first-party titles coming to PS Plus Premium generally come with trophy support.

While classic games offer a unique bonus to PS Plus Premium subscribers, users in this tier get access to all the benefits of the Extra and Essential categories. Sony recently announced the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium lineups for December 2023, confirming that 19 games will be coming to these higher tiers. Extra members can look forward to Grand Theft Auto 5, Metal: Hellsinger, Mega Man 11, Salt and Sacrifice, and more this month, while Premium subscribers can also try out Mega Man Legacy Collection and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command among others. It’ll be interesting to see if these classic games feature support for trophies when they launch on PS Plus Premium on December 19.
