Highlights

  • PlayStation Plus Premium offers PS2 classics with save states and Platinum trophies for subscribers to enjoy.
  • The latest PS2 games include Sly Cooper, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Tomb Raider: Legend.
  • Future updates will bring even more classic games to the PS Plus Premium lineup.

Sony has updated the list of games available through its PlayStation Plus Premium tier to include three classic titles from the PS2 era. PlayStation Plus Premium is the most expensive tier of PS Plus, meaning it comes with everything that the previous tiers do, plus some extra perks.

PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers are able to claim the monthly free PS Plus games that are part of the Essential tier, plus they have access to all the PS4 and PS5 games tied to the Extra tier. In addition to all that content and other perks, PS Plus Premium subscribers can also play a selection of retro games from the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP libraries. Most of the time, new PS Plus Premium games are PS1 titles, so it's always exciting when games from the other platforms are added to the mix.

PS Plus Player Count Takes a Hit

Despite some heavy-hitting titles being added to Sony's subscription-based PS Plus service, player counts are dropping dramatically.

And that's just what's happened with the latest PlayStation Plus Premium update. As of June 11, PS Plus Premium subscribers have three fresh PS2 classics to play with their subscriptions. The new PS Plus Premium games for June 2024 are Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Tomb Raider: Legend. All three games come with special features that were not a part of their original PS2 releases.

New PS Plus Premium Games for June 2024

  • Before Your Eyes (PS VR2)
  • Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord (PS VR2)
  • Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (PS2)
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars (PS2)
  • Synth Riders (PS VR2)
  • The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners (PS VR2)
  • The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution (PS VR2)
  • Tomb Raider: Legend (PS2)
  • Walkabout Mini Golf (PS VR2)

All three of the PS2 games added to PS Plus Premium feature save states and Platinum trophies, giving subscribers plenty to shoot for as they take a trip down memory lane. Trophies have been added to many of the classic games available through the PS Plus Premium catalog, though there are times when this feature is missing, so it's always appreciated when it's included. Hopefully, future PS2 games added to the PS Plus Premium lineup include even more trophies for dedicated fans to unlock.

Sony has yet to announce its future plans for PS Plus Premium, but another update to the service is expected to come on June 18. PlayStation Plus subscribers will no doubt be hoping to see the sequels to Sly Cooper and Tomb Raider: Legend added to the lineup, as both games are part of trilogies. Tomb Raider: Legend was followed by Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Tomb Raider: Underworld, with all three games generally considered to be the best PS2-era Tomb Raider titles. Both original trilogy Sly Cooper sequels also earned a great deal of acclaim, so here's hoping fans don't have to wait too long to get the complete collections through PS Plus Premium.
