PlayStation Plus Premium is on the verge of losing three games that are currently available to play through the service, with subscribers having until next week to check them out. Sony revamped its PlayStation Plus subscription service earlier this year, giving consumers three distinct tiers to choose from. The most expensive PlayStation Plus tier is PS Plus Premium, which gives subscribers access to absolutely everything that PS Plus has to offer.

PlayStation Plus Premium features the free monthly PS Plus games, the PS4 and PS5 games that are a part of PS Plus Extra, and a variety of retro titles. PS Plus Premium also features some hangers-on from back when the service was known for PlayStation Now, and some of those games have already been removed from the lineup. In the near future, PS Plus subscribers can expect even more games to get the boot, so those interested should try to play them while they still can.

On October 17, PS Plus Premium will be losing two titles in the form of the original Red Dead Redemption as well as its standalone expansion pack Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. The original Red Dead Redemption remains one of the most critically-acclaimed open world action games of all time, and so its departure from PS Plus Premium is definitely a disappointment for fans, even if they already played through the game long ago.

PS Plus Premium Games Leaving Soon

Undead Nightmare
  • Red Dead Redemption - October 17
  • Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare - October 17
  • Soma - October 18

Undead Nightmare's departure also stings, especially because it's leaving right before Halloween. For those who may not be familiar with it, Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare added zombies to Red Dead's open world western gameplay to great success. Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare has been popular enough that fans have been calling on Rockstar to release something similar for Red Dead Redemption 2, though nothing has ever materialized.

Another horror game is being removed from PS Plus Premium a day after Undead Nightmare gets the boot. Horror game Soma, from the developer of Amnesia, is being removed on October 18. Whereas Amnesia is a medieval horror game that dabbles in cosmic horror elements, Soma is more of a sci-fi horror experience. Soma earned mostly positive reviews from critics at the time of its original release in 2015, and while it would make for a great game to play this Halloween season, it is unfortunately being removed just a couple of weeks before the holiday is upon us. It should be pointed out that Soma isn't just available through PS Plus Premium, but the PS Plus Extra tier as well.

While PS Plus Premium subscribers will be sad to see these games removed, the good news is that there are plenty of more games coming to the service next week. PS Plus Premium is adding 23 games on October 18, so there's a lot is coming to make up for the departures.
