Sony has yet again updated its PlayStation Plus subscription service, giving subscribers the chance to claim three more free games for their collection. One of the main draws for the basic tier of PlayStation Plus, aka PS Plus Essential, is the fact that it gives subscribers access to free games that they can download and keep for as long as they stay subscribed to the service.

The monthly free PS Plus games aren't just available to those who are signed up for PS Plus Essential, though. As one might imagine, the monthly free games are a perk of being signed up for the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers as well. So basically, anyone with a PlayStation Plus subscription, regardless of what tier they're signed up for, can look forward to a batch of free games to claim near the beginning of every month.

The free PS Plus games for May 2023 have now been cycled out and replaced by the free games for June 2023. All three of the free PS Plus games for June 2023 have native PS4 and PS5 versions available, so subscribers can take full advantage of the lineup even if they have yet to upgrade to Sony's newest console. The free PS Plus games for June 2023 are NBA 2K23, Jurassic World Evolution 2, and Trek to Yomi, with all three games available until July 3.

  • Trek to Yomi

Out of these games, NBA 2K23 is certainly the headlining new addition. While sports games don't appeal to everyone, there's no denying that NBA 2K23 is one of the biggest sports games on the market right now and makes for a huge addition to the PS Plus free games lineup. After all, the NBA 2K games are consistently some of the top-selling sports games each year. It's true that NBA 2K23 reviews weren't quite as glowing as some of the previous games in the series, but it should still be a big "get" for the free PS Plus games lineup.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 is a management simulation game where players run their own Jurassic Park. The follow-up to the original Jurassic World Evolution, the sequel made a number of improvements over its predecessor that saw it earn much higher reviews scores. Management sims are a niche genre, but perhaps leveraging the Jurassic World IP will see more PS Plus subscribers give the game a chance.

And finally, Trek to Yomi is a black and white action game inspired by classic samurai movies. Trek to Yomi reviews were much more mixed than the reviews for NBA 2K23 and Jurassic World Evolution 2, but PS Plus subscribers can come to their own conclusions about the game after downloading and playing it for themselves.
