The PlayStation Plus Last Chance to Play section has confirmed 10 games that will be leaving the Extra and Premium tiers of the subscription service in August 2023. The free PS Plus games available to Essential tier subscribers are available to keep for as long as one remains subscribed to PlayStation Plus after they've been claimed, but the same logic does not apply to the games available to play through the Extra and Premium tiers.

The games available through the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers are rotated in and out of availability. Sony adds new games to the tiers on a monthly basis, but it also removes games from the lineup on a monthly basis as well, usually around the middle of every month. The Last Chance to Play section clues fans in on which games exactly will be getting the boot each month, and now fans know of 10 titles that will likely be removed in August 2023.

The PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers are losing 8-Bit Armies, Borderlands 3, Carmageddon: Max Damage, DCL - The Game, GRIP, Nidhogg, The Crew 2, Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2. A specific removal date has not been announced at the time of this writing, but chances are good they will be dropped in the middle of August, whenever the new batch of PS Plus Extra and Premium games are added.

PS Plus Extra and Premium Games Leaving August 2023

There are some significant titles being removed from the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers in August 2023. The headliner is easily Borderlands 3, Gearbox's big co-op first-person shooter game that earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its release in 2019 and was one of the year's most successful titles. The sheer amount of content Borderlands 3 brings to the table means its removal from the PS Plus lineup will definitely sting for some fans.

Nidhogg, meanwhile, may not be nearly as famous as Borderlands 3, but it's still a high quality experience that is sad to see removed from the PS Plus lineup. Fans of the Yakuza franchise will be disappointed that Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are all getting the boot, especially when one considers that Yakuza 0 is often pointed to as one of the best games in the entire franchise.

The good news is that PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers still have time to play through these games while they're still available on the service. Anyone interested should be sure to check the games out ASAP.
