The free PlayStation Plus games for May 2021 were recently confirmed, and as usually, they consist of one PS5 game and two PS4 games that subscribers can claim and add to their collection. However, PlayStation Plus subscribers in Spain will actually be getting a bonus PS4 game for May 2021, letting them download a total of four games with their PlayStation Plus subscription beginning Tuesday, May 4.
PS Plus subscribers in Spain will get access to the three free PS Plus games for May 2021 that were announced for all regions: Wreckfest on PS5, Battlefield V on PS4, and Stranded Deep on PS4. However, PS Plus subscribers in Spain will also get access to Waves Out!, which is an arcade game with a magnet gimmick. The game retails for just $9.99 on the PlayStation Store, so those in other regions aren't missing out on an insane value or anything like that, but some may still be upset that they are missing out on the bonus free game.
Waves Out! was published by Spain-based Gammera Nest SL, and so it makes sense that it's being made available as a bonus to PS Plus subscribers in Spain. Of course, this isn't the first time that PS Plus subscribers in Spain were treated to a free bonus game. A few months ago, Dawn of Fear was a free PS Plus game for subscribers in Spain as well, and it too was published by Gammera Nest SL.
While it seems Spain is the only region getting a bonus free PS Plus game for May 2021, other regions have gotten bonus games in the past as well. Just recently, Japan was treated to a bonus free PS Plus game when subscribers in the country were given Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night alongside the other free games.
PS Plus subscribers in the United States and other regions were given a bonus free game as recently as March 2021 as well. Alongside Maquette, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Remnant: From the Ashes, the free PS Plus games for March 2021 lineup also included the PlayStation VR game Farpoint as a bonus.
In future, it's quite likely that Sony will occasionally add free bonus games to the free PS Plus lineup in various regions. It seems that they usually consist of PlayStation VR titles, but it's entirely possible that they will feature other games as well. In the meantime, PS Plus subscribers can look forward to downloading the free PS Plus games for May 2021 come May 4, and there is still time to download the free PS Plus games for April 2021 until then.
