PlayStation Plus subscribers weren't expecting to learn about the free games for March 2023 until next Wednesday, but Sony surprised fans by confirming not just March's free games lineup, but what PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can expect as well. These PlayStation Plus announcements came about as part of the latest PlayStation State of Play event, where Sony highlighted a variety of new games in development for PS4, PS5, and PlayStation VR2.

Sony's State of Play events are best known for their new game announcements, but they have also played host to surprise PS Plus reveals in the past. As some fans will recall, it was a State of Play event where Sony confirmed Stray as a day one PS Plus release.

The latest State of Play event had its own share of PS Plus reveals, confirming what Essential, Extra, and Premium subscribers fans can look forward to next month.

Free PS Plus Games for March 2023

The free PS Plus games for March 2023 are Battlefield 2042, Minecraft Dungeons, and Code Vein, all three of which will be available to PS Plus subscribers on March 7. Battlefield 2042 will have both the PS5 and PS4 versions available to play, though there are no native PS5 versions of Minecraft Dungeons and Code Vein in the free PS Plus games for March 2023 lineup. However, all three games are playable on PS5 thanks to the console's backward compatibility.

Tchia has long been anticipated by PlayStation gamers, and they will get to play through it without buying when it launches on March 21.

And finally, Sony also confirmed some of the games coming to the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers in March 2023, and including some seriously heavy hitters. While specific release dates weren't announced for them, PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can look forward to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Ghostwire: Tokyo joining the PS Plus Extra and Premium lineup in the near future. Needless to say, this should significantly boost the value of the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers, giving PlayStation gamers even more reason to sign up.

PlayStation Plus subscribers have a lot to look forward to when it comes to the March 2023 offerings, but there's still time to claim the free PS Plus games for February 2023 in the meantime. The PS Plus Extra and Premium games for February 2023 were added just recently as well, so subscribers should be kept plenty busy waiting for next month to roll around.
