With BioShock: The Collection, The Sims 4, and Firewall: Zero Hour all coming in February's lineup, it's clear PS Plus' monthly free game service is delivering some of the best titles on the console for no additional cost. Although the quality per month does vary, Sony has been known to even occasionally give players some of its biggest exclusives, and next month's PlayStation Plus offerings seem to be doing exactly that.
Revealed by PlayStation's Twitter page, the company has unveiled that subscribers will be getting free copies of Bluepoint's Shadow of the Colossus remake and Sonic Forces in next month's lineup. Both games will be available for PS Plus subscribers beginning March 3. This proves that the recent leak surrounding the upcoming PS Plus games was entirely true, with the report claiming fans would see both the popular titles.
As many will no doubt know, Shadow of the Colossus is heralded as one of the greatest games of all time. It originally released in 2005 to a lot of fanfare, quickly becoming a beloved video game classic, before Bluepoint was tasked with remaking the game with state of the art graphics for a 2018 release. The remake was showered with praise from both critics and players alike, with the title now sitting at an extraordinary 91 on Metacritic. It's undeniably a sensational title for PS Plus members to receive for free, especially as those who haven't played the PlayStation 2 classic can finally experience it for no additional cost.
On the other hand, Sonic Forces is the most recent game in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and will no doubt appeal to a lot of fans who have just watched the video game icon's popular big-screen adaptation that hit cinemas earlier this month. While reactions to the game were mixed, it allowed for players to create their own Sonic character and join the blue blur on a quest to stop a brand-new villain. While there are better Sonic games out there, Forces will no doubt draw in a new crowd now its available for free.
While PS Plus has gotten some complaints before about the lackluster nature of the games it offers, this coming month provides two of the strongest titles Sony has offered recently. Shadow of the Colossus specifically has seemed to appease fans, who have been commenting their excitement about the decision on PlayStation's Twitter announcement. Alternatively, Xbox One Games With Gold will be offering Batman: The Enemy Within and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, so it seems both PlayStation and Xbox will have interesting games for fans next month.
