The time for the turned over on PS Plus free games from May 2022 to June 2022 has come. Last month, the PS Plus free games for May 2022 included FIFA 2022, Curse of the Dead Gods, and Tribes of Midgard, with the games seemingly getting a mixed reception. Not because they weren’t good games, but they were all rather niche.

Replacing them today, June 7, are God of War (PS4), Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker (PS4), and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl (PS4/PS5). These games will be available until July 5, at which time the new PS Plus free games for July 2022 will release.

It remains to be seen how exactly this PS Plus free game selection is received, but it doesn’t seem to be hailed as a particularly good month. God of War is beloved, of course, but also highly played and available on the PS Plus collection. This ensures PS4 users can play it too on that end, but at the same time, anyone looking to upgrade to PS Plus Extra will also be able to access the game. So, it’s a mixed bag depending on how one intends to react to the PS Plus tier release in June.

Meanwhile, Naruto to Boruto is an arena fighter game that’s rated “weak” on OpenCritic, with a Top Critic Average of 64. Nickolodeon All-Star Brawl is in the same boat at a 65. However, it should be noted that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl just got a patch for voice-acting, items, and more that could add a new, more immersive and intensive layer to the Super Smash Bros.-like fighter.

Even if the PS Plus free games for June 2022 aren’t to everyone’s liking, it’s going to be a big month for PS Plus subscribers. PS Plus Extra and Premium release on June 13, giving those who subscribe to the Extra tier a library of PS4 and PS5 games to play and those on the Premium tier those and a library of PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 games to play. Most of the library revealed so far has been promising, so there’s bound to be a little something for everyone.

At the same time, fans should note that the Essential tier, or PS Plus as it is now, is still likely to see some changes. While Sony’s June games operate under the new rules, it stands to reason July’s games will operate under new ones. Sony’s announcement of these tiers can with a note that PS Plus Essential users would get two games every month. PS Plus has given away just two games before, but for several months now, it’s been three games, making this a notable change.

PS Plus subscribers get a handful of free games every month.
