Sony has released its three Essential Tier PS Plus games for December, which operate as the longstanding "free games" offered on the service. The PS Plus free games for December 2023 include LEGO 2K Drive, PowerWash Simulator, and Sable. The Essential Tier allows players to play online and further incentivizes the subscription with three games every month, while the highest tiers of the service—PS Plus Extra and Premium—give subscribers a larger catalog of games going as far back as the PS1.

The headlining title is LEGO 2K Drive, a LEGO-based racing and car simulation game, which was released earlier this year. It's the first of many games coming from LEGO and 2K, with the next rumored to be a LEGO soccer game called LEGO 2K Goooal!. With LEGO 2K Drive coming to PS Plus relatively soon post-launch, it'll be interesting to see if it happens with other LEGO x 2K games as well.

Every PlayStation player will be able to access the multiplayer mode of their favorite game at no extra cost for a limited time.

Meanwhile, PowerWash Simulator has it all in the name, but the experience is cathartic if nothing else thanks to its relatively simple, but relaxing and fun gameplay. Similarly, Sable is an open-world exploration game where players must find a mask and return to their nomadic clan. It's perhaps not the strongest line-up of PS Plus games, but if fans have missed out on these games, they are worth checking out. This is especially true for racing, simulation, or indie fans.

Of course, Sony is not done with the month quite yet. Fans can expect it to reveal the PS Plus Extra and Premium games next week, with them releasing not long after that. The last PS Plus batch included some rare PS1 titles, as well as a lot of nostalgia in general, so it'll be interesting to see how they compare.

While it remains to be seen what Sony announces for the PS Plus Extra and Premium Games of December 2023, it's possible fans already know about three. The service added the game, Up, in November after it leaked online, and shortly after it was released, three more games for the service leaked in the same manner. It could be that they come later, but it stands to reason that PS Plus Premium will add Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Thrillville, and Thrillville: Off the Rails in December.

PS Plus subscribers get a handful of games every month.
