Tango Gameworks' Ghostwire: Tokyo coming to PlayStation Plus Extra in March could be a strong indicator that the game will be making its way to Xbox Game Pass as well. Ghostwire: Tokyo was one of the PS5 timed exclusives from Bethesda that was agreed upon before the company was acquired by Microsoft. The game first launched for the PlayStation 5 about a year ago to mixed reviews, but it may find new life as part of the PS Plus Extra lineup.

Sony revealed the new games coming to PS Plus Extra for March 2023 a bit ahead of schedule, utilizing its State of Play event to give fans a sneak peek at the games. One of the games confirmed for the March 2023 lineup was Ghostwire: Tokyo, which will be available to PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers next month on whatever day it hits the service. PS Plus Extra and Premium games are typically added around the middle of the month, so subscribers likely won't have access for another couple of weeks or so.

Ghostwire: Tokyo joining the PS Plus Extra lineup mirrors fellow Bethesda-published game Deathloop. Deathloop found itself in the exact same situation as Ghostwire: Tokyo at the time of its original release - it was part of a PS5 timed exclusivity deal agreed to by Bethesda and Sony, so it launched as an exclusive on Sony's console despite Bethesda being owned by Microsoft at the time. About a year after Deathloop launched and its PS5 exclusivity ran out, it came to the PS Plus Extra tier of Sony's subscription service as well as Xbox Game Pass. It seems highly likely that the same will be the case for Ghostwire: Tokyo. Therefore, the confirmation that Ghostwire: Tokyo is coming to PS Plus Extra in March can likely be taken as confirmation that the game is coming to Xbox Game Pass next month as well.

Ghostwire Tokyo Xbox Game Pass Feature

Ghostwire: Tokyo originally launched for PS5 on March 25, so it's likely that fans will have to wait until around that date or a little after to play the game on Xbox. This means PS Plus Extra subscribers will almost certainly get access to Ghostwire: Tokyo before those on Game Pass do. Regardless, it's possible an upgrade is on the way for the game across both consoles, assuming it follows Deathloop's example.

Rumor has it that a Ghostwire: Tokyo update will coincide with the game's Xbox debut. Deathloop did this back when it originally made the jump from PlayStation to Xbox, adding some significant new content to mark its release on Xbox. It's also possible that Ghostwire: Tokyo will not receive any updates like this and will instead be released on Xbox in its original form, so fans should keep that in mind before getting too excited.

If Ghostwire: Tokyo is coming to Xbox Game Pass as part of the March 2023 lineup as assumed, fans shouldn't expect an announcement for a little while. The new Xbox Game Pass games coming in the second half of March 2023 will likely be announced around the middle of the month, so subscribers should hang tight for more information.
