The Extra tier of Sony's PlayStation Plus subscription service is adding 19 new games in May 2023, with all titles set to be available beginning Tuesday, May 16. There are three tiers of PlayStation Plus for subscribers to choose from. PS Plus Essential gets subscribers access to the monthly free games, while Extra includes access to a huge roster of PS4 and PS5 games and Premium adds classic titles to the mix.
Those that want to play classic games on their PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles will want to spring for PS Plus Premium, but for many PlayStation gamers, PS Plus Extra will be more than enough to keep them busy. PS Plus Extra is basically the PlayStation equivalent of Xbox Game Pass, with subscribers having access to hundreds of titles with games added and removed on a monthly basis.
PS Plus Extra subscribers are losing access to Spider-Man this month, but they will have 19 new games that should keep them plenty busy. The new PS Plus Extra games for May 2023 include PlayStation 5 exclusive game Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, day one release Humanity, Watch Dogs: Legion, Dishonored 2, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Bus Simulator 21: Next Stop, The Evil Within 2, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Thymesia, Rain World, Lake, Conan Exiles, Rune Factory 4 Special, Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, and Soundfall.

Out of all the new PS Plus Extra games for May 2023, the one that stands out the most is easily Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the latest installment in the long-running 3D platformer franchise and one of the highest-rated PlayStation 5 games to date. It's certainly one of the most notable PS5 exclusives on the market, and certainly worth the price of a PS Plus Extra subscription.
Another significant new game coming to PS Plus Extra in May 2023 is puzzle game Humanity. Humanity is a rare day one release for PS Plus Extra, which gives it added value when compared to the other new additions, all of which are a bit older.
It's interesting to see multiple Bethesda games added to the PS Plus Extra lineup in May 2023. Microsoft owns Bethesda, but that doesn't seem to have stopped Bethesda-published games from making their way to PS Plus. It will be interesting to see just how long they remain on the service compared to other new PS Plus Extra game additions.
