Highlights

  • Slime Rancher is now confirmed to be leaving PS Plus Extra on June 18 alongside the previously-announced titles.
  • Between PS Plus Extra and Premium, 14 games are leaving on June 18.

It seems yet another game is leaving the Extra tier of the PlayStation Plus subscription service on June 18, as Slime Rancher has been spotted in the Last Chance to Play section. When it comes to the Extra tier of PlayStation Plus, subscribers don't have forever to play the games. Titles are eventually removed from the library, even first-party PlayStation exclusive games.

Previously, Sony removed Marvel's Spider-Man from PlayStation Plus Extra, and more recently, Horizon Zero Dawn was removed from the lineup. Horizon Zero Dawn's departure was part of a big exodus of PS Plus Extra games that saw 35 titles leave the service, including some of the most popular Final Fantasy games. The next wave of PS Plus Extra departures will take place on June 18, and now fans know of yet another game being removed on that day.

PS Plus Extra Adds 2017 Game With 'Very Positive' Reviews

Sony updates the PlayStation Plus Extra library to add a 2017 game with 'Very Positive' reviews.

It looks as though Slime Rancher is being removed from the PS Plus Extra lineup on June 18. The unique life sim game is about running a ranch filled with bizarre slime creatures. It earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its original release in 2017 and has proven popular enough to become a franchise in and of itself. As a matter of fact, a Slime Rancher movie is in the works, plus a direct sequel is currently in early access.

Unfortunately, Slime Rancher is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the games leaving PS Plus Extra on June 18. 12 other titles are confirmed to be leaving the service on the same day, with Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, DC League of Super-Pets: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace, Dodgeball Academia, Grand Theft Auto 5, Indivisible, Monster Jam: Steel Titans, MotoGP 23, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated, The Talos Principle: Deluxe Edition, The Wild at Heart, and Unturned all leaving on June 18 as well. A single PS Plus Premium game is also leaving on June 18, with subscribers to the highest tier losing access to Baja: Edge of Control HD. In total, that means there are 14 games leaving PS Plus on June 18.

List of Games Leaving PS Plus in June 2024

  • Baja: Edge of Control HD - PS Plus Premium
  • Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
  • DC League of Super-Pets: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace
  • Dodgeball Academia
  • Grand Theft Auto 5

  • Monster Jam: Steel Titans
  • MotoGP 23
  • Slime Rancher
  • SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated

On the bright side, some of these departing games have gotten, or are getting, "replacements" of sorts that should appeal to the same fanbase. For example, Grand Theft Auto 5 may be leaving on June 18, but Red Dead Redemption 2 was just recently added to the PS Plus Extra lineup last month. And SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated may be getting removed as well, but one of the free PS Plus games for June 2024 is SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake.
