The PlayStation Plus subscription service is set to remove 11 games from the Extra tier come December 19. The monthly free games available to PlayStation Plus subscribers that are signed up for the Essential tier can be kept forever as long as one claims them within their window of availability and stays subscribed to the service. However, the games available to play through the Extra tier rotate in and out of availability.

PS Plus Extra works like Xbox Game Pass in that new games are added to the service on a regular basis, but titles are also pulled from availability as well. For example, PS Plus Extra recently added nine games to its lineup as part of the November 2023 update, including day one game Teardown. While fans will no doubt want to check out the new games available to play through PS Plus Extra, they may want to prioritize some of the games getting the boot instead.

PlayStation Plus Extra members get new titles every month, and a recently added day one game is getting positive reviews from critics.

They are Caladrius Blaze, Damascus Gear: Operation Tokyo HD Edition, El Hijo: A Wild West Tale, Foreclosed, Friday the 13th: The Game, Legends of Ethernal, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, The Escapists 2, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

  • The Escapists 2
  • Yakuza 6: The Song of Life
  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Friday the 13th: The Game getting removed from PS Plus Extra comes as no surprise. It was announced earlier in the year that Friday the 13th: The Game would be delisted beginning December 31, 2023, at which point it will become unavailable to purchase both physically and digitally. Friday the 13th: The Game's online servers will remain available for a full year after it's delisted, so anyone interested in playing it technically has until December 31, 2024 to do so.

The biggest games getting the boot on December 19 are definitely Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. All four of the games are sizable, so PS Plus Extra subscribers probably don't have enough time to play through them all before they're gone, but they could at least get started or potentially complete one or two.
