Sony has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 5 is coming to the Extra tier of its PlayStation Plus subscription service beginning Tuesday, December 19, joined by 13 other games. The Extra tier of PlayStation Plus gives subscribers access to a wide variety of PS4 and PS5 games that rotate in and out of availability. This is in contrast to the PS Plus Essential games, which are the monthly free games that subscribers can keep forever as long as they stay signed up for PS Plus.

Whereas the monthly free PS Plus games are added at the beginning of each month, the new PS Plus Extra games tend to come in the middle of the month. So is the case with the new PS Plus Extra games for December 2023, which have now been announced and are set to be added on Tuesday, December 19.
