PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium users who are considering playing Crime Boss: Rockay City should note that its platinum trophy is currently unobtainable. May 2024 saw the addition of Crime Boss: Rockay City to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium lineups, lowering its barrier of entry and giving interested subscribers a chance to play it entirely. However, devout trophy hunters should be wary of some issues with the game's trophies.

Developed by Czech Republic-based Ingame Studios and published by 505 Games, Crime Boss: Rockay City is a 2023 heist game that features a cast teeming with iconic actors such as Chuck Norris, Danny Trejo, Michael Madson, Danny Glover, and more. Using the titular Florida-inspired Rockay City as its backdrop, Crime Boss: Rockay City heavily echoes Grand Theft Auto in its ambition, but middling reviews and technical issues on all platforms led to a rather stymied reception for the open-world co-op crime game.

A brand-new GTA and Saints Row competitor called Crime Boss: Rockay City has just reared its head, and its cast is absolutely star-studded.

About one year after its launch, it was announced that Crime Boss: Rockay City would be landing on the May 2024 PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium libraries. Players who might have been on the fence about the game finally have an opportunity to try it out on the service, but those who like to hunt for platinum trophies will be disappointed. TrueTrophies recently discovered that the digital version of Crime Boss: Rockay City has an unobtainable platinum because two of its trophies, Red Star and Geek Out, seemingly fail to trigger even after their requirements are fulfilled.

Crime Boss: Rockay City's Platinum is Unobtainable for Digital Users on PS5

According to TrueTrophies, the issue arises due to a prior patch that apparently bugged the progress tracking for the trophies. Since PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers only have access to the digital version of Crime Boss: Rockay City, the game will download with the patch installed, thereby making the platinum trophy unattainable. Much like the issue with the FF7 Rebirth platinum trophy, however, players who own the disc version of Crime Boss: Rockay City can secure its platinum by installing the game without the latest patches.

Thankfully, Ingame Studios has confirmed that an inbound June 18 update (dubbed Update 9.0) for Crime Boss: Rockay City should rectify the trophy issues. While the developer's swift acknowledgment and action are commendable, Crime Boss: Rockay City isn't the only game disappointing trophy hunters on PS5 recently. A leaked PlayStation trophy list for popular Riot Games hero shooter Valorant revealed that it won't have a platinum trophy on PS5 at all. Crime Boss: Rockay City will eventually be patched, but the Valorant platinum may remain forever elusive.
