Debuting in June of this year, PS Plus Extra has continued to grow over the last six months, with new games hitting the service every month. While a few games take their leave every few weeks, the number of additions vastly outweigh the number leaving the service, leading to PS Plus Extra having hundreds of games currently available for subscribers. And with hundreds of games available, that means players have thousands of hours of content to dive into.

PlayStation Plus Extra's December 2022 line-up may not be the most immediately impressive of the year, but it does boast some excellent video game experiences. From three separate Far Cry games, to the Middle-earth series, to some new Yakuza entries, PS Plus Extra's December line-up should keep players busy throughout this holiday period.

December's PS Plus Extra line-up brings Far Cry 5, Far Cry: New Dawn, and Far Cry: Primal to the subscription service. With each of these games being expansive open-world experiences, there's plenty of content for gamers to dive into. Far Cry 5's main story alone will set players back around 18 hours, while 100% completion can take about 45 hours. Despite being smaller-scale spinoffs, Far Cry: New Dawn and Far Cry: Primal are also pretty lengthy, taking around 12 hours to complete the story modes in each, and just over 30 hours to complete each game to 100%. So, overall, all three Far Cry games in December's PS Plus Extra roster will set players back about 100 hours if they plan on getting 100% in all three.

The beloved Yakuza series is also getting three spots in December's PS Plus Extra line-up. The big headline entry is Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which can take players 45 hours just to complete its main story, and over 100 hours to reach 100% completion. Yakuza 6 also makes the cut this month, which takes a more humble 18 hours to beat, and 50 hours to complete. The detective Yakuza spinoff, Judgment, is also on the roster, which takes a respectable 27 hours to beat but if players want 100% completion, it can take over 100 hours. When combined, these three Yakuza games could take players over 250 hours to fully complete.

Fans of The Lord of the Rings are in for a treat this December, with both Middle-earth games coming to PS Plus Extra in December. The first game in the series, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor takes about 15 hours to beat the main story, and takes around 30 to fully complete. The sequel, Middle-earth: Shadow of War takes a little longer, with its story coming in at around 20 hours, and 100% completion taking just over 50 hours.

There are also a ton of family-friendly games dropping this December for PS Plus Extra, giving families plenty to play this holiday season. Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is the highlight here, and its short 6-hour duration is perfect for kids. Ben 10: Power Trip is another short game, taking just 4 hours to beat. Lastly, Gigantosaurus: The Game comes in at a similar time, with players being able to finish the main story in about 6 hours.

December's PS Plus Extra line-up doesn't stop there, however. The unique Soulslike Mortal Shell is available, taking just 10 hours to beat, and 19 hours to complete. Despite mainly being a multiplayer party game, Worms W.M.D. does have a story mode, which should take players about 13 hours to beat. The gorgeous 2.5D side-scroller The Pedestrian is one of the shortest games on the roster, coming in at just 4 hours. The addictive RTS Evil Genius 2, on the other hand, is a little longer, coming in at 27 hours to finish, and around 47 hours to complete. In contrast, prison break simulator The Escapists 2 takes only 17 hours to beat, but about 60 hours to complete.

The longest game of the lot, however, is Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire - UItimate Edition, which will takes players an eye-watering 69 hours to beat just its main story, and over 130 hours to fully complete. On January 3, 2023, PS Plus Extra will receive the PS4 version of WWE 2K22, which will take players just 4 hours to beat, but over 100 hours to complete, kicking off the new year in style.
