Sony has issued a new update to the Extra tier of its PlayStation Plus subscription service that adds a new day one game to the mix along with 12 other games. When it comes to PlayStation Plus, subscribers know to expect the free games at the beginning of the month, while the Extra tier games are added in the middle of each month.
Those who are signed up for any tier of PS Plus were treated to the monthly free games at the beginning of August. Until September 4, PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium subscribers can claim Death's Door, Dreams, and PGA Tour 2K23 for their digital libraries. The free PS Plus games for August 2023 remain accessible to PlayStation Plus subscribers as long as they stay subscribed to the service. The games added to the Extra and Premium tiers are a different story, as they are rotated in and out of availability ala Xbox Game Pass.
The PS Plus Extra games for August 2023 are available now, consisting of Cursed to Golf, Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed, Dreams, Hotel Transylvania: Scary Tale Adventures, Lawn Mowing Simulator, Lost Judgment, Midnight Fight Express, Moving Out 2, PJ Masks: Heroes of the Night, Spellforce 3 Reforced, Source of Madness, and Two Point Hospital: Jumbo Edition. Out of these games, Moving Out 2 is perhaps the most noteworthy, as it's a rare example of a day one PS Plus Extra game. And not only that, but it's earned pretty strong reviews so far.

Moving Out 2 is a co-op game where players work for a moving company. The game has earned mostly positive reviews from critics, with many praising it as an improvement over its predecessor. It's not often that PS Plus Extra subscribers are treated to day one games, which makes Moving Out 2 especially exciting. However, it's not the only day one PS Plus Extra game coming in August 2023.
PS Plus Extra subscribers can also check out Sea of Stars on August 29. Sea of Stars is notable because not only is it a day one PS Plus Extra game, but it's also coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one as well. Regardless, it's rare for PS Plus Extra to get day one games at all, so it's a big deal that two are being added to the service in the same month.
Of course, anyone signed up for the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus are free to check out all these games as well, plus a few titles that are being added specifically for Premium subscribers.
