PlayStation Plus subscriptions are available at a discounted rate for Black Friday, but it looks like only new users or those upgrading from a lower tier can take advantage of this sale. Gamers can choose from three PS Plus tiers, with each category offering a unique set of benefits.

PlayStation Plus subscriptions are usually discounted a few times in the year, most notably during Black Friday and Days of Play. In the past, players have been able to extended their memberships during these sales, allowing them to never pay full price for their PS Plus membership. While Sony is offering PS Plus subscriptions at a cheaper rate from November 17 to 27, it appears that this discount is only available to new subscribers or members upgrading from a lower tier.

Black Friday deals are now live on the PlayStation Store in some regions, but existing PS Plus subscribers are not seeing a discount applied when extending their memberships. Information on the PlayStation Blog only makes note of new users and gamers upgrading to one of the higher tiers. Previous Black Friday PS Plus deals didn’t come with this caveat, as gamers were able to stack multiple years at discounted rates. Ultimately, this has resulted in fans sharing their frustrations online, as they cannot take advantage of this offer.

However, it looks like some existing PS Plus members have been able to extend their memberships at these discounted rates. Multiple people on Reddit are claiming to be eligible for these discounts, as they have shared pictures confirming that they can extend their memberships for a cheaper price. Some users state that their PS Plus memberships are expiring relatively soon and they do not have it set to auto-renew, which could offer a possible explanation for these cases. Overall, while the exact cut-off date is currently unknown, some players may be able to extend their PS Plus memberships if it is expiring in the near future and they have auto-renew disabled.

Sony recently revealed the list of games coming to PS Plus Extra and Premium in November 2023, confirming that 14 titles will be added to the catalog. Members in the Extra tier will get access to Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, Teardown, Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition, and more, while Premium subscribers can also try out Grandia, PaRappa the Rapper 2, and Up among others. In addition, users in all tiers can now play Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Dragon Ball: The Breakers, and Mafia 2: Definitive Edition at no extra cost.
