Update: Sony has officially confirmed the free PS Plus games for April 2021, and it looks like the leak was real. Beginning April 6, PS Plus subscribers can add Oddworld: Soulstorm, Days Gone, and Zombie Army 4: Dead War to their collection.

Original story follows.

While there have been some exceptions over the years, Sony typically reveals the next batch of free PlayStation Plus games on the last Wednesday of every month. As such, it's highly likely that Sony will make the official announcement for the free PS Plus games for April 2021 in a matter of hours. However, it's possible that the free PS Plus games for April 2021 have actually leaked ahead of time, though fans should take the leak with a grain of salt.

It's already known that one of the free PS Plus games for April 2021 is Oddworld: Soulstorm. Launching on April 6, Oddworld: Soulstorm is the PS5 representative for the April 2021 free PS Plus lineup. However, each month brings with it two free PS4 games as well, and Sony has yet to pull the curtain back on those. An account called Dealbot posting on an Australian bargain website may have beaten Sony to the punch, potentially leaking the other two free games ahead of the official announcement.

If the post is to be believed, the other two free PS Plus games will be the open world horror game Days Gone and Zombie Army 4: Dead War. Days Gone is a PlayStation exclusive game from Bend Studio, primarily known for its work on the Syphon Filter franchise over the years. Zombie Army 4 is a third-person shooter survival-horror game with co-op that launched just last year. Both games earned somewhat mixed reviews from critics.

Fans will find out for sure within the next few hours, so it's not like they have to wait long to find out if these supposed free PS Plus games for April 2021 are legitimate or not. However, there is one big reason to believe that this leak may not be accurate. Days Gone is already part of the PS Plus Collection on PS5, so it seems unlikely that Sony would release it as its own PS Plus game as well.

Then again, Sony has been known to double dip in the past. One of the best examples of this is the 2016 Ratchet & Clank game. In 2018, Sony made the 2016 Ratchet & Clank game one of its free PS Plus games. It has also added the game to the PS Plus Collection on PS5. And just recently, Sony made it one of the free games available through its PlayStation Play at Home program as well. So while Days Gone may seem like an unlikely choice, it's certainly within the realm of possibility.

Whatever the free PS Plus games for April 2021 turn out to be, fans will find out in a matter of hours.
