Few games are as creative and accessible as LEGO games. They combine the creativity of the toy blocks with puzzle-centric gameplay, and they've remained consistently enjoyable since the first games came out in the late 90s. The one thing that has allowed the LEGO games to remain so relevant for so long is how they each focus on a different property from pop culture. Everything from Star Wars to Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings has been made into a LEGO game, each of them faithfully recreating the movies with a signature sense of humor.

Although it may seem like every big movie and pop culture franchise under the sun has been given a LEGO game, there are some properties that still haven't been immortalized in brick-form. The sheer amount of detail that goes into each game shows that series developer Traveler's Tales knows how important certain properties are to fans. The Marvel and DC LEGO games are particularly good at demonstrating this, as the vast lists of playable characters encompass the most iconic and obscure heroes to ever be published. It's high time that some other properties got some LEGO love, so fans young and old can enjoy their favorite things in a whole new way.

A LEGO game set in the Transformers franchise would have a lot of room to tell a completely original story. Much like how the Marvel and DC games have created their own unique narratives, a Transformers LEGO game could take the very best of the robots in disguise and make something brand new. There have been a lot of different Autobots and Decepticons over the long history of the franchise, and this would make for an expansive character list. Incorporating some vehicular puzzles and combat would also make this LEGO game stand out among the rest.

Doctor Who

The "timey-wimey" world of Doctor Who has been touched on in the toys-to-life game LEGO Dimensions, but such hybrid games haven't been relevant for a very long time. There is an immense opportunity for a full-fledged LEGO Doctor Who game, considering how the show has spanned thirty-nine series over more than fifty years. A game set in this universe could take a very similar approach to the LEGO Harry Potter games, with each Doctor having unique skills from the rest based on their specialties in the show. Fans could also have the opportunity to explore worlds like Gallifrey and Skaro more in depth, and with the added charm of LEGO bricks.

Star Trek

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will make the sixth LEGO game to take place in a galaxy far, far away. Which begs the question; why hasn't LEGO gone where no man has gone before? Just like Doctor Who, a Star Trek game would be able to take advantage of decades of different TV shows and films. If the developer wanted, whole games could be dedicated to certain eras of Star Trek. One game could focus on everything from The Original Series to Enterprise, another could focus on the Chris Pine films, and a third game based on everything from the Discovery series to the present could round out the LEGOStar Trek trilogy.

With LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga coming out sometime this spring, the future landscape of LEGO games is wide open. The last LEGO game that wasn't some kind of sequel was 2018's LEGO The Incredibles, so it's likely that the next Traveler's Tales project will take gamers someplace new. The company has seemingly cracked the code of what makes its games so enjoyable, and it continues to innovate so players have a reason to keep coming back. At this point, as long as there are still pop culture franchises to choose from and fans to play them, LEGO games are going to keep coming out for a very long time.
