There are advantages to many of the choices provided on Project Zomboid, many of which can be found within the occupations that a player chooses. However, the occupation one chooses isn’t the sole decider of survival. Players can also build up a wide range of skills, personalizing their role and odds of thriving in the game. There are some skills that players absolutely need in the long runplaying Project Zomboid.

7 Fitness And Strength

Gamers of Project Zomboid are very aware that being in the optimum physical condition is imperative for survival. High levels of fitness and strength can increase damage dealt to zombies, as well as attack speed. Fitness and strength determine how quickly a player fatigue, and is a huge factor when carrying heavy items.

Whether a player is constantly fighting off zombies or not is dependent on their gameplay style. However, nobody can deny the usefulness of fitness and strength when hunting/gathering, cutting down trees, and raiding.

6 Farming

Food will always be high in demand, however, amid a zombie apocalypse where players have to bonk zombies left and right - food becomes even more of a luxury. Rather than rushing through the canned food and other scavenged sources of subsistence, look towards farming.

When farming, players can grow food like potatoes and cabbages. Making sure a character has daily food to sustain themselves, allows them more energy to carry out daily tasks of survival.

5 Mechanic

Increasing the mechanic skill is perfect for long-term Project Zomboid gameplay. Vehicles may be spread across Kentucky, but many will need work or at the very least require maintenance.

Having mechanic skills allows for upgrading and replacing parts as one wishes. Vehicles can become more efficient for a player’s choice of style within the game. Whether it be raiding or transferring items in bulk, this is a great skill to have on a player’s back. Players may need to hot-wire a car on short notice, increasing the mechanic skills will allow players to do exactly that.

4 Carpentry

A safe house is crucial for survival within Project Zomboid, and the carpentry skill exists to make sure that the safe house is properly secured. With this skill, players can create barricades that prevent zombies from raiding their base.

Windows and doors can be boarded up, and players can also build shelves and boxes for increased storage. Depending on how high gamers choose to increase this skill, the possibility of creating their base from scratch arises. Every player should have some level of carpentry under their belt if they wish for a more secure playthrough of Project Zomboid.

3 Aiming

It may sound like a no-brainer, however, players would be surprised by how much of a role this plays when in the mists of a zombie raid. The worst thing to occur is the panic debuff on characters whilst under a zombie attack. Unfortunately, this is very likely.

As a result of the panic debuff, accuracy decreases when using firearms. Thus, the likelihood of being bitten by a zombie due to poor aim becomes increasingly higher. Leveling the aiming skill could be a gamer’s saving grace when trying to survive. Not only does the accuracy of zombies targeted get better, but the panic debuff will affect much less than a less skilled character. This could be the very difference between life and death whilst playing Project Zomboid.

2 Sneaking

Though Project Zomboid and many zombie games alike pride themselves on the killing of the undead, sometimes gamers want to avoid such zombies whilst carrying out other errands. This is where sneaking becomes the golden skill.

Being able to bypass several zombies within a location almost always guarantees survival. Players have other objectives besides chopping down zombies. Some are in search of tools and items that advance their current base’s infrastructure, others are scavenging for food and seeds so that their character does not starve. On these occasions, zombies being in the way can make that job increasingly tedious. The sneak skill can help gamers avoid these zombies to enjoy other aspects of the game they’re playing.

1 Electrical

The electrical skill shines when players require a functioning generator. Luckily, players who do have this skill can fix generators as well as hot-wire cars. This skill can be the very thing that stops players from experiencing a blackout.

The electrical skill allows players to create a range of electrical devices including smoke bombs and other electrical weaponry. These are fun bonuses that can increase enjoyment among players on their Project Zomboid playthrough.
