RPG fans will likely remember Larian Studios' Divinity: Original Sin 2 as one of the most immersive CRPGs to grace the PC. Thankfully, its Definitive Edition finally got ported to the Nintendo Switch last 2019. Unlike other Switch ports, Original Sin 2 for the Switch got freebies such as built-in mods, as well as cross-platform play. As such, players of the PC version will be able to save their progress for the Switch and vice versa.

Moreover, players itching to try the much-harder Tactician and Honor Modes may want some quick tips to get their pro game on. Thankfully, there are some pro tips Switch players can use to maximize their Original Sin 2 experience.

10 Get A Quick EXP Boost

Unlike other RPGs, killing in Original Sin 2 has active consequences - including cutting storylines short, or ending potential quests. Players looking for a quick boost early on without worrying about this caveat should wreak havoc in The Hold, instead.

After exploring the tutorial level, players should talk to all the Magisters above deck and engage all of them in combat. This combat forces even the other prisoners to become neutral allies (using their default class and build) and attack the other Magisters. During the chaos, players should try to talk to Windego, which will prompt her to kill all the Magisters, with the player getting all that delicious experience.

9 Observation Gets Players Ahead

Players don't necessarily have to end up in combat blind. Most, if not all, NPCs can be Examined via the interaction button. Examine reveals almost everything about an NPC - from their name and race, down to their Talents.

As such, players should develop the habit of using Examine on opponents more often. This function becomes handy when identifying enemies that can trigger attacks of opportunity on melee (via the Opportunist talent). Moreover, getting a basic idea of what Talents NPCs possess generally gives some insight to their usual battle strategies.

8 Sneaky Fingers

Players with a penchant for thievery might find it tricky to pickpocket NPCs for loot. Pickpocketing can be extremely useful at almost any point in the game, as NPCs - especially vendors - might have useful spellbooks. Ideally, players can just have a character with high Thievery do the job. However, they can make things easier with some distractions.

For instance, other characters in the party should talk to other NPCs before the pickpocketing happens. This task means the thief should only starting their action while the characters are actively talking to the target and other nearby NPCs. As such, the thief can sneak much easier and run much quicker after the act, making the pickpocketing a breeze.

7 Delay Turns To Maximize Advantage

Sometimes, one character might do more damage or actions if their turn happens after another character. Unfortunately, the game automatically assigns initiative orders during battles. However, players can tweak with initiative a bit with Delay Turn. With this command, players won't necessarily have to skip "bad" turns.

Thanks to Delay Turn, a character can end up going last in the entirety of the round. This move becomes useful if players are preparing some combos, or if one character far in the initiative count needs to do something first. Delay transforms into a handy tool when sturdier melee characters need to hold the brunt of an assault while mages prepare their spells.

6 Fight After The Fact

In traditional RPGs, fights usually start with the party together. However, Original Sin 2 allows characters to "break away" from the party. A character with this status won't follow the others when roaming around. However, this trick becomes extremely useful in combat, especially considering NPCs tend to dish out AOEs early on in fights to generate environmental effects.

To counter this caveat, players should practice dedicating one player to scout ahead and be slotted in the initiative count first. With this method, other characters can try getting into more advantageous positions or even sneak. Players in stealth can get a free attack before being slotted in the initiative count.

5 Try Boxing

Players can carry almost any kind of interactive object in the game - from candles to crates. Unfortunately, exceeding a character's weight capacity won't allow them to move except via Waypoints. Thankfully, the Telekinesis spell allows players to "move" (sometimes throw) items to various locations - most of the time to make them explode.

However, some heavy items such as crates get harder to destroy when they carry heavy things. Unfortunately, dropping these heavy crates on unsuspecting NPCs can cause a ton of damage. Fortunately for some squishier characters, this box strategy might just protect them from much stronger bosses.

4 Get Helpful Talents, Skills Early On

Thanks to a wide variety of Talents and skills, characters can be customized to fit almost any kind of role. However, players who want to go pro with Original Sin 2 should probably prioritize certain Talent and skill combinations. In the case of the Switch's Definitive Edition, activating certain Gift Bags grants additional Talents to choose from, which adds more customization options.

For instance, Morning Person is a great talent for all characters to get, as this makes them resurrect with Full Health. Moreover, they should consider getting the Bigger and Better Talent as this grants them extra attribute points to spend on the get-go.

Additionally, Haste is a handy skill that can greatly enhance mobility for characters in a single turn. In higher-level battles, Haste grants better positioning for characters to maximize their abilities.

3 Take Note Of Interactive Objects

Original Sin 2 doesn't have time constraints during turns. As such, it's important for players to remember that almost all battles in the game can be tweaked with a few item adjustments.

If players end up in battles where enemies immediately get the environmental advantage, they should check items in the vicinity. Are there barrels that can be adjusted? Are there explosives or special items that need to be removed so characters won't get damaged? The earlier players ruin the opponent's AOE strategy, the less environmental risks will be out there.

Moreover, the faster the players get to those useful items, the more their ranged class allies can deal massive damage.

2 Rest With The Bedroll

Battles become frustrating especially when the party can't even get to full health unless they find beds. However, Definitive Edition fixes this with the Bedroll. Acquiring the Bedroll in The Hold will give a permanent bedroll to the party with decent benefits.

With this Bedroll, characters get healed of all damage, attain the Rested status, recover both their armor types, and even gain temporary buffs. As such, players should acquire this Bedroll early and use this every after a battle to ensure no one gets killed especially since status such as being burned will persist some time even after battle.

1 Never Let Go Of Teleportation Gloves

Players who acquire the Gloves of Teleportation might think it's a low-level item in the long run. However, to those who don't have access to Teleport, this piece of equipment can be a lifesaver. Since characters can easily equip and unequip items during their turn, they can get themselves and other allies out of tight situations fairly quickly.

Moreover, Teleport can be quite an annoying spell to use on enemies. For instance, teleporting an enemy on top of another will cause damage. Additionally, players can teleport enemies and bosses to disadvantageous positions rather quickly.
