The next update to Xbox Games Pass is loaded with titles, and not all of them got official announcements. One of the unannounced games joining the Xbox Game Pass list is Prison Architect. Available for Xbox Game Pass for PC subscribers, the management simulation game joins other anticipated titles such as The Medium, Outer Wilds, and remastered Yakuza titles. Prison Architect was also included in GOG's Winter Sale a few months ago.

Originally released in 2015 on PC, Prison Architect eventually made its way to Xbox the following year. Prison Architect allows players to take control of a maximum-security prison. They are responsible for building the prison and then running it to keep inmates inside. While it wasn't included in the official announcements and ads, Prison Architect has appeared on the "coming soon" section of the Xbox Game Pass app.

The game has inspired modders to make their own Prison Architect expansions in addition to the official ones, breathing life into the game even five years after it's release.  The game also features an "escape mode" where players can attempt their own high-stakes prison breaks to get out of maximum-security themselves instead of taking on the role of warden.

Prison Architect received a free expansion in May of 2020 titled Cleared For Transfer. Players who pick up the game will be able to get another expansion,  called Going Green, on January 28 when it goes live on Xbox Game Pass.

Prison Architect is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, and is scheduled for release on Xbox Game Pass for PC on January 28.
