"Cleared for Transfer" is looking to be the big new update that is entirely for the players. According to publisher Paradox Interactive, the expansion will bring a new complexity to the Dungeon Keeper-esque simulator. The expansion is based heavily on player feedback and developer Double Eleven is adapting those requests. This is an expansion for Prison Architect players looking for more managerial depth.

The key features according to the press release involve more management with regards to prisoners themselves. The first notable addition is prisoner transfers which will allow players to move detainees between security sectors. Special Privileges can now be bestowed on prisoners and more rooms can now be graded along with custom security sectors. The final addition notes "new actions and enhancements" which include shakedowns, lockdowns by sector and tunnel searches, so players can have their own "Shawshank Redemption" moment.

The announcement of the expansion includes the news the Paradox Interactive has taken over the publishing rights of Prison Architect other platforms outside of PC. This means that future updates will no longer have an early release on PC but be released simultaneously on all platforms. The "Cleared for Transfer" expansion is not among these and will be available on consoles at a later date. This recent change is another step for Paradox Interactive going deeper into simulations with the recency announced a new project with a former Sims lead developer.

The announcement of a new expansion comes five years after the initial release of Prison Architect, one of the greater crowdfunding success stories. The game has found a dedicated fanbase which explains the core focus of "Cleared for Transfer" content. Fans have always been able to make their own changes in wonderful ways but Double Eleven is making it a more intense affair.

Prison Architect is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
