To save the Dashing Thief Sparkla, players will have to enter through four different doors and unlock a lock inside each room. By doing so, they'll gradually acquire all Sparkle Gems in this stage in no particular order. Here is how players can get the five Sparkle Gems in The Dark Prison & the Dangerous Trap:

Sparkle Gem 1

Enter through the door on the upper left to look for the first Spakle Gem. In this area, gamers will find several rotating platforms. To get the Sparkle Gem, they must collect the eight Sparkle Gem fragments on the platforms. Two of them are located on a hidden platform high above - quite easy to miss.

Sparkle Gem 2

Enter through the door on bottom left to look for the second Sparkle Gem. It is located in the secret underground area, which can accessed by following these steps:

  • Activate the switch and enter the next area
  • Use the hookshot, and hop towards the platform on the right
  • Slide down the green pipe
  • Pose on top of the metal floor tile

In the secret area, players must ascend to the top by using the hooks. Once there, they'll find the Sparkle Gem. Afterwards, players must activate the switch and enter the door to return to where they were before and continue to the next area.

Sparkle Gem 3

Enter through the door on the upper right to look for the third Sparkle Gem. To find the Sparkle Gem, after completing the area with the switches, gamers must go right instead of taking the hooks that lead upwards. Otherwise, they will find themselves immediately at the lock and completely miss Sparkle Gem.

Sparkle Gem 4

Enter through the door on the bottom right to look for the fourth Sparkle Gem. After avoiding the lasers and walking through the first area in this location, gamers will have to run down a hallway and activate a wish to turn off the lasers. Then, they must climb up using the hook.

Here, there is an easily-missable hidden area on the left. They can reach it by walking between the lasers; there is no laser in the middle, so even though it appears like it could damage Peach, it won't. Gamers can then complete the rest of the area by going right.

Sparkle Gem 5

To get the last Sparkle Gem simply complete the escape segment with the Dashing Thief Sparkla.

Once gamers enter the next room after grabbing the second Sparkle Gem, they'll have to solve a riddle to move onto the area where they can unlock the lock and free the Sparkla. To find the Ribboner in The Dark Prison & the Dangerous Trap, players must use their hookshot on the switch above them, and then climb onto the open door on the right.

Players will receive the Multicolored Dashing Thief Ribbon for helping the Ribboner in this play.
