Twitter users have discovered a recently added account on the social media site for the Prince of Persia franchise. After a fan on Reddit did some digging, they believe that the account may have been created by Ubisoft to prepare for a new Prince of Persia game.

Prince of Persia is one of Ubisoft's big name franchises. Despite the series helping Ubisoft find its footing in the video game world, there hasn't been a been a new installment to the franchise in nearly 10 years. Recently, fans have been unearthing more and more leaks, leading many to hope that a new game will be officially announced soon.

Around a month ago, fans in the Prince of Persia discord discovered a locked and private Twitter account called @PrinceOfPersia. Since the Prince of Persia 6 website had been discovered to be a hoax and the account had created very recently during May 2020, the group didn't think much of it at the time. However, one Reddit user by the screen name of NayamAmarshe recently decided to investigate further. By activating the Forgot Password sequence, they were able to find out the email the Twitter account was attached to. Twitter showed the email as pr******************@u******.***, leading many to believe that this account is official.

Since other official Ubisoft game Twitter accounts connect to emails at ubisoft.com, logic would follow that this indeed an official account. The first part of the recovery email can also safely fit the title of the game franchise in it as well, though many are puzzled by what the last six letters may be. Fans are also curious about why Ubisoft would be making and then locking this Twitter account in the first place. With the timing of the account's creation coinciding with leaked footage of a canceled Prince of Persia game and a month after rumors of a Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake being in the works started, there may be something new in store for the game series soon.

While new Ubisoft games would normally be announced at E3, the company is putting on Ubisoft Forward to update fans on the state of its games. With these leaks coming to gamers' attention, this may signal a new game for the Prince of Persia franchise in nearly a decade.
