Where to Find Masked Worms

Masked worms are giant creatures that block tunnels. You come across them in The Depths, particularly in the Catacombs area. These aggressive beings launch Unstoppable Attacks upon your entry into the tunnel, forcefully pushing you out. Their distinctive feature is the enormous stone masks, identical to the faces scattered throughout The Depths.

How to Get Past Worms That Block Tunnels in The Lost Crown

To bypass the path-blocking masked worms, unlock the Shadow of Simurgh Athra Surge. This ability allows Sargon to generate a clone in front of the worm, enticing it to follow you only to teleport to your shadow and spawn behind it.

Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Acquire the Shadow of Simurgh ability by progressing through the main quests.
  2. Create a clone in front of the worm by pressing L1 (LB on Xbox/Switch) before it chases you.
  3. Taunt the worm to follow you. (Get close enough so it starts chasing you.)
  4. Run in the opposite direction—toward the tunnel’s entrance.
  5. Wait for the worm to pass by your shadow.
  6. Press L1 (LB on Xbox/Switch) again to teleport to your shadow. This action places you behind the worm, providing access to explore the tunnel.

In certain tunnels, such as the one in the Catacomb area, you’ll need to repeat the process to exit. Fortunately, the masked worms will rotate and face your direction. This allows you to replicate the trick, teleport behind them, and leave the area.

How to Kill Worms

Upon teleporting behind a worm's back, target its glowing red tail to eliminate it. Unlike their stone masks, the tails are highly sensitive and inflict quick eradication when damaged. Avoid expending valuable resources such as arrows and Athra Surge gauges on their masks, as the masks are impervious to damage.
