With Ubisoft giving one of its classic franchises a new look in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, chances are, many returning players will find that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to this side-scrolling Metroidvania. In particular, the game has a more overt emphasis on combat than any of its predecessors.

As such, it sets up many exciting combat encounters that will require both skill and good timing for Sargon to come out on top. The first of those will be a fight against General Uvishka, and this guide will help you get the upper hand against this intimidating opponent.

As Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown draws closer, the game's approach to storytelling signals a new era for the side-scroller genre.

How to Beat General Uvishka in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Bringing players into the conflict in ancient Persia, the first major obstacle standing in Sargon's way in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is the hulking General Uvishka. As the first boss, players might think it will be an easy time, but with just three health bars and limited combos, those unprepared will be struck down easily by the enemy.

Be sure to remember the previous tutorials leading up to this fight, as they provide all the foundational skills required to beat not just General Uvishka but also all the other enemies in the game.

After knocking down the barricade using a Charged Attack, it is time to come face-to-face with the enemy general. The first phase of the fight will see Uvishka stay on horseback, using his trident as a long-reaching weapon to attack players. He will swing forwards and backward, so be wary and parry his attacks whenever possible.

If you find yourself at a longer distance from him, Uvishka will rear his horse up and slam down with his trident in a damaging attack; dodge or parry the attack to buy more time. At times, the general will also leap into the air for an unblockable attack, so use dodge to back away to prevent any damage from the AoE attack. At about halfway through his health, get ready to parry the yellow flashing attack to get to the next phase.

Beating General Uvishka in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown Phase 2

Sargon will kick General Uvishka off horseback, and a different fight awaits. The boss gets more aggressive now, thrusting forward with the trident and doing a long sweep. Both attacks can be parried, and keeping up the pressure with combos will eventually see him fall; fittingly, Sargon will use the trident as the killing blow. The elimination of the general will end the conflict, kickstarting the rest of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
