Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a 2D action-adventure game, and the latest entry in the storied Prince of Persia franchise. Splitting its focus between fast-paced combat and metroidvania-style exploration, The Lost Crown feels like both a love letter to the series' earliest games, and an amazing addition that sets the standard going forward.

On top of the incredible gameplay elements, The Lost Crown features a main quest of considerable depth. The story itself was made with all-new characters, though much of the lore ties back into older games, like The Sands of Time. This guide will explore all quests that make up the main story, giving players an idea of what to expect, and a rough idea of how long they'll spend with The Lost Crown.

Prologue Part 1:

  • A brief opening section introduces players to Sargon, the game's protagonist. He is part of an elite squad of warriors known as the Immortals. Here, players will learn of the war that rages at the core of the story, and of the Immortals' place in it. In terms of gameplay, this section serves as the basic tutorial for combat and traversal.

Prologue Part 2:

  • The second half of the prologue sets up the events of the game, pushing Sargon down a path of no return. Along with this, players are introduced to The Lost Crown's Athra abilities.

I. 'Lost in Mount Qaf'

  • The first main quest in the Mount Qaf region. Sargon acquires his Eye of the Beholder, allowing him to map Mount Qaf. The Hyrcanian Forest is first visited.
  • Sargon will encounter Jahandar, The Lost Crown's first major boss, at the end of the quest.

II. 'The Abducted Prince'

  • Sargon is forced to come to terms with at least one unbearable truth. Much is learned about the exact nature of Prince Ghassan's abduction. The Sacred Archives and the Upper City are both introduced.
  • Sargon closes the section by fighting a truly unexpected foe.

III. 'The Tiger and the Rat'

  • Sargon encounters an old man who steals his Eye of the Beholder. Much of the quest is spent trying to retrieve it. Sargon visits The Depths.

IV. 'The Path to the Sand Prison'

  • The Old Man tasks Sargon with acquiring several of The Lost Crown's special abilities. This will allow Sargon to enter The Pit of Eternal Sands.

V. 'The Darkest of Souls'

  • Sargon makes his way through the Pit of Eternal Sands, hoping that a banished god will help him return to the past to fix a terrible mistake.
  • Sargon faces Azhdaha, the Banished God.

VI. 'The Celestial Guardians'

  • Sargon learns that it is possible to return to the past, though only a short window of time will be available. He must head to four corners of Mount Qaf to summon the Celestial Guardians in the night sky. Sargon will have to face two friends who have become enemies.

VII. 'Return to the Past'

  • Sargon completes his task, allowing him to return to the moment before a terrible tragedy occurs. Once again, Sargon is forced into fighting. The ramifications of his excursion back in time are unavoidable, as Sargon is forced to take on a fight he does not want.

VII. 'Father and Son'

  • A major revelation from the past shakes the very foundations of everything Sargon believed to be true. Loyalties are severely tested in this penultimate quest.
  • Sargon must face the cursed King Darius.

VIII. 'The Crossroads of Time'

  • The final quest finds Sargon deciding on a mission of mercy instead of a mission of revenge. The power of the Simurgh is revealed, with its incredible power shaking the very heart of Mount Qaf. The Lost Crown's final boss fight is incredibly powerful, bringing the story full circle.
