A widespread tradition for new video games is having a unique physical collectible with the preorder to sweeten the pot for buying physical. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is no different. Many different stores offer a bunch of unique and exciting items for players to pick up when the game launches in May.
This guide is not limited to the United States; most amazing bonuses are only in particular countries. Unfortunately, United States residents can only really get a single unique Tears of the Kingdom preorder bonus currently, so the majority of this guide is covering other countries' items that American fans would need to import to get their hands on.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the sequel to the beloved open-world adventure, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This installment once again sees Link and Zelda battling to protect Hyrule from falling to Ganondorf. This new adventure takes place in the same land of Hyrule as Breath of the Wild but sees something called the Upheaval, which allows link to travel to Sky Islands, as well as deep into the Depths beneath Hyrule. Players can use special abilities to fuse together weapons, and build items to help them progress through the release.
GameStop
Many people preordered Tears of the Kingdom through Gamestop since it had been accidentally discounted to $60 for a while. Those who preordered the game from this store in America get a fine-looking Wooden Plaque, now known to have the Ultra Hand symbol on it after the gameplay trailer.
This plaque is a neat reward, but it's nothing too practical or valuable, more of just a display piece for Zelda fans to put up if they like it. Unfortunately for Americans, only two other stores are offering unique rewards; no other stores seem to give out anything special for the players there on launch day.
Best Buy
Tears of the Kingdom fans who decide to place their preorder at Best Buy will see this item automatically added to their cart. An art print that will likely only be a little bit larger than a Nintendo Switch game case, but it still looks to be a quality print.
While it is a little small, this display piece is more practical than the other two offered for Zelda fans in the United States, as it could be easily framed and hung on a wall. It is also still in supply and available for any preorder of the physical editions of the game, even if it was preordered before the art print was announced.
Walmart
A unique wall scroll is given out for Zelda fans who preorder the game from Walmart. This is pretty unique in the space of preorder bonuses and some lovely wall art for any Tears of the Kingdom enthusiast to have displayed in their home.
Unfortunately, for anyone eager to get their hands on this one, it's already completely sold out. There may be some hope of a restock coming eventually, but for now, the wall scroll remains unavailable, and the only options for gamers in the United States are the GameStop plaque or the Best Buy art print.
Target
While there is technically no preorder bonus for Target, those who arrive on the Tears of the Kingdom launch day can pick up a free "hip pack". This is essentially just a small purse meant to wrap around the waist and hang on the hip. It looks pretty stylish with a muted brown and gold aesthetic.
Costco
For gamers shopping at the same place with the $1.50 Hot Dogs and paper that comes by the pound, Costco offers an exclusive bonus for an extra $5, a carrying case with a Tears of the Kingdom design. While this one is not free, $5 is quite the steal for carrying cases that would typically cost an extra $25.
Canadian Bonuses
Canadian Tears of the Kingdom fans will receive a Pin Set from GameStop or a Luggage Tag from Walmart. The Pin Set is standardized as a GameStop bonus in the US for Metroid Dread and Kirby and the Forgotten Land, so it is curious why only Canada gets one.
The luggage tag is more unique—quite a practical and perfect item for Zelda fans who love to travel. While one may already have a generic luggage tag, it's never a bad thing to try and subtly rep a beloved franchise, even on a suitcase.
Amazon Japan Bonuses
Instead of conventional rewards, Japan receives a silly and unique Silverware set. So while Link uses his bare hands, Tears of the Kingdom players can use a Zelda-branded Spoon and Fork for any meal they'd like. They're a nice set of utensils that should fit in any kitchen.
Israel Nintendo Store Bonuses
The Nintendo online store in Israel offers three sizes of a shirt or a commemorative coin. Of course, players can only get one or the other, but the free shirt seems like the better value and is also quite the upgrade over the typical green shirt with a Triforce on it.
Tears of the Kingdom players shouldn't sleep on the coin, either; it has quite an intricate design and might be worth quite a bit due to its relatively limited release in Israel and a small selection of other countries. The shirt does seem like the more popular item, though.
Europe Nintendo Store Bonuses
Europe (namely the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, and Italy) will receive two previously discussed items: the Collector's coin and the luggage tag. Of course, this brings into question why the previous bundle doesn't include the shirt and the coin, but this bundle is a sweet deal regardless.
World of Games, Switzerland
Swiss fans of Tears of the Kingdom should consider preordering their copy at the World of Games store since they offer a free notebook as a preorder bonus. The design looks incredibly sleek and wholly unique to this one store, a nice bonus for any fan.
While it looks pretty lovely, this one is only a great bonus for those who enjoy writing and would actually use a notebook. Otherwise, this is just another excellent piece for the Zelda collectibles shelf. Imagine all the lovely Zelda-related doodles that could be kept inside.
Korea, Gamewoori
While conventional logic would dictate that Japan or America get the most preorder bonuses, Korea hit the jackpot on Tears of the Kingdom bonus items. The first is one from Gamewoori, and they're giving out an entire Tears of the Kingdom jigsaw puzzle.
This puzzle looks somewhat painful to solve, given the large number of white pieces in the middle. This might ruin it for some, but it is a fun bonus when just looking at the art and not considering the actual puzzle nonetheless.
Korea, SSG
SSG offers two different rewards for Korean fans who preorder Tears of the Kingdom: a towel and two key rings. The towel seems like the more fun and unique option, but key rings that look pretty decent are never a wrong choice.
Overall, SSG has a nice mix of unique and generally great options; both look decent quality as well. The towel may not last a few cycles in the laundry but would still display well alongside the pins. The more generic Triforce design is fine, but the withered Master Sword pin is amazing.
Korea, Kakao
Kakao has gamers playing on PC and Switch covered with a lovely-looking desk mat; this mat looks decently large enough to cover almost anyone's desk. This is especially nice for any Zelda fan who is also an avid PC user.
This one looks a bit cheap, especially with the Nintendo Switch watermark still in the top left. However, the rest of the print does look higher quality, and the render of Link looking out to the skies is as great as ever. Regardless, a valuable and good reward for any PC user.
Korea, Toys "R" Us
In Korea, Toys "R" Us is still trucking and offering two preorder bonuses for Tears of the Kingdom. One is a coaster to ensure that mugs don't leave gross rings all over the table, and another is a blanket with an awesome-looking withered Master Sword design.
Of these two, the blanket seems better. The coaster has a more generic Zelda design, while the blanket is a Tears of the Kingdom-specific design. Regardless, both of these are valuable rewards that Zelda fans will love.
Korea, TMON
The rewards for preordering this game tend to get stranger, and TMON is the peak of this. While their first bonus for ordering the Standard Edition is a somewhat regular tote bag, the bonus for buying the Collector's Edition is a very odd Passport.
Collector's Edition, Amiibo, and other Goodies
While these aren't preorder bonuses per se, they are extra things Nintendo is launching alongside the game on May 12th. These are usually sold separately, but the Collector's Edition includes the game (luckily, with the typical case and steel book separate, unlike Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) and other goodies. Unfortunately, it's sold out almost everywhere but may be obtainable at some physical retailers on launch day.
Other Nintendo-made items are releasing with the game, namely the Nintendo Switch OLED system (that does not include the game) and the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Both of these can be a bit tricky to get a hold of, but again, searching around physical retailers for them in addition to online storefronts is the best way to try and secure one so close to launch.
There are also the official Amiibo and Carrying Case. While the PowerA Carrying Case is launching simultaneously, the official Nintendo one is built for the Switch OLED and would go great with the special edition Switch. The Amiibo releasing this day is the Tears of the Kingdom Link Amiibo, which grants some extra in-game items and a special paraglider skin.
