Power Rangers is a staple of pop-culture media, with a wide range of shows and movies under its belt. The franchise has also had a brevity of video game content that has been released over the last few decades. The most recent release was the fighting game Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, celebrating 25 years of the franchise, which even had actors from the TV Show reprising their roles. With all of the games that have released over the years, there was one Power Rangers video game that didn't get off the ground. Thanks to a former Saban employee, some information regarding that game has been revealed.

Jason Bischoff's experience ranges from AAA Game studios to big-budget film and TV productions, with an apparent love for many different pop culture properties. These include Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Power Rangers, which can be seen on his Twitter. Recently, he revealed some details regarding a AAA game that he pitched with a team in 2016 that sadly never came to be.

Under the title PROJECT NOMAD, Bischoff laid out the details of this ambitious game, showing off concept art and basic premise. He described it as an "open-world co-op that captured the energy, teamwork, and history of the franchise." He further described it as being very similar to the Batman Arkham series or the upcoming Gotham Knights, where he even called it "Arkham Rangers" while showing off art of team in action.

The art that he showed off included some sleek new re-designed suits for the Rangers, including the original team and Alien Rangers. He and a small team were drafting up these concepts for the game's pitch, but development unfortunately never got very far. The main thing that held back the production of the game, according to Bischoff, was time and budget. At the time, the franchise was preparing the Power Rangers movie reboot, which most likely took a lot of attention from Saban to finish before other projects could possibly be greenlit.

Bischoff lamented that while the conversation with the developer and publishing team were favorable, the project was eventually canned. He acknowledged that quiet cancellations like this are part of the gaming industry. Fans on Twitter bemoaned the fact this game never came to be, as many thought it looked really promising. Maybe one day this concept could be revisited, but as it stands, whether it be a new Power Rangers movie or TV Show, the Power Rangers brand is iconic enough that it will continue to have new media produced for it.
