In the long history of Power Rangers, the powerful team of teenagers with attitudes have done battle with plenty of villains between monsters of the week and the force behind them. Names like Divatox, Lord Zedd, Astronema, and the Psycho Rangers are just a few of the plethora of villains in this franchise's history to try and best the team, and a few have been lucky enough to make it into Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid. Now, after much player demand, the original Power Rangers baddie is making her way into nWay's fighting game with its latest season.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid originally released in 2019, giving players the chance to do battle as some of the iconic Rangers and villains from the series almost 30 year history. The game initially released to mixed reviews from critics who praised the gameplay mechanics but were disappointed in the underwhelming story mode and lack of modes and playable characters. Despite an initially rocky release, the game has since seen a resurgence online thanks to nWay's ongoing support, with Season 4 adding Black Ninja Ranger Adam Park and the monster Poisandra from Power Rangers: Dino Charge.

However, nWay has confirmed the release of the character many players may argue is the biggest addition to the game yet: Rita Repulsa. The newest season 4 trailer showcases the villain who started it all, highlighting the arsenal of magical powers and putty patrollers at her disposal when she releases on December 14. Fans of the original series will also be happy to the voice of Barbara Goodson back to provide Rita with her iconic high-pitched, raspy voice.

Rita's addition to Battle for the Grid will make her the eighth character from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in the game's roster. She joins the aforementioned Black Ninja Ranger Adam, Red Ranger Jason, Yellow Ranger Trini, White and Green Ranger Tommy, Goldar, Scorpina, and Lord Zedd.

Given that Battle for the Grid released as part of the franchise's 25th anniversary celebration in 2019, players could argue it was a matter of time before the sorceress joined the fight. Rita Repulsa is among the most iconic characters in the series history, with her last physical appearance coming in 2006's Power Rangers: Mystic Force as the purified Mystic Mother responsible for the Rangers' powers.

That said, players shouldn't expect Rita to be the last character from the original series to make their way into Battle for the Grid. Billy Cranston, the Blue Ranger, has yet to be added and there are plenty other villains like Rito Revolto and Master Vile who could bring their devious ways to the game, but only time will tell.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
