Poppy Playtime is getting an Xbox port, Mob Entertainment has announced. The first chapter of the hit indie horror game will reach Xbox consoles in mid-July.

Poppy Playtime is an episodic survival horror title whose first episode was released for PC in October 2021 before making its way to Android and iOS devices the following March. Its PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch ports were launched in North America and Europe in December 2023 and January 2024, respectively. Since then, the game has received two more episodes, which are still waiting to be ported to select platforms. In spite of some early Poppy Playtime controversies, Mob Entertainment's title eventually garnered quite a bit of positive buzz, as underlined by the fact that it nowadays boasts "Very Positive" reviews on Steam, based on more than 75,000 player impressions.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 Is Coming to Xbox on July 12

Xbox users will soon also be able to experience the sheer horror of getting chased by Huggy Wuggy, one of the scariest dolls in gaming, once Poppy Playtime drops on their platform of choice. The newly announced port of the game's inaugural chapter, A Tight Squeeze, is scheduled to reach the latest two generations of Microsoft's consoles on July 12. Pre-orders will open a week in advance, on July 5. The Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 Xbox port will retail at $4.99, the same as the other console versions.

The game's Xbox localization will be fairly comprehensive for an indie survival horror title, with Poppy Playtime being confirmed to offer nine language options. In a statement provided to Game ZXC, a Mob Entertainment representative has confirmed that the second and third chapters of Poppy Playtime are also planned to eventually be ported to Xbox consoles, although there's currently no concrete timeline for their release.

Based on the studio's track record, it is plausible that other platforms will take precedence, as the developer has yet to bring Chapter 2 to PlayStation consoles and the Switch, whereas Chapter 3 is presently only available on PC, having debuted back in January 2024. Mob Entertainment's past releases, including new chapters and ports, have never been more than five months apart since the first episode of Poppy Playtime launched on Steam. Should that pattern continue, Chapter 2 may reach Microsoft's consoles by late 2025.

As for the game itself, Xbox users can expect an utterly claustrophobic horror experience that will see them explore an abandoned toy factory and solve puzzles while trying to avoid deadly toys. Figuring out the specifics of what happened to the factory's missing employees is presented as one of Poppy Playtime's central mysteries.
