Poker Face season 2 is officially ordered at Peacock. The news comes as the first season of creator Rian Johnson and star Natasha Lyonne's murder mystery series continues.

Poker Face season 1 premiered on Peacock in late January, introducing audiences to Lyonne as human lie detector Charlie Cale. Forced to flee from a casino boss after becoming entangled in a suspicious death, Charlie hits the road and encounters several characters and homicides along her journey across America. The series centers on a new mystery each week in a howcatchem format, with Charlie using her lie-detecting skills to crack the case.

Over a week after a Poker Face season 2 announcement was teased by Susan Rovner, the chairman of entertainment content at NBCUniversal TV and streaming confirmed the renewal in a statement. "'Poker Face' is one of those rare, undeniable shows that we all fell in love with from the start, but the critical acclaim and viewer response has been beyond our wildest dreams,” Rovner said. “Working alongside the creative genius of Rian Johnson, Natasha Lyonne and Ram Bergman, along with our partners at MRC and T-Street, has been a spectacular ride. We can’t wait to hit the road for another season as we continue to build momentum across Peacock’s originals slate."

Poker Face creator Johnson, who also wrote and directed several episodes, reacted to the news on Twitter by writing, "Our goal is to keep making these until you’re all so sick of us." Lyonne also took to the social media platform, congratulating fans of the series and writing, "We’re so happy you like our show and can’t wait to make some more for you!" Peacock did not announce a release window for Poker Face season 2, but the wait might be long since season 1 still hasn't finished.

News of the renewal might not be surprising, considering Rovner already touted Poker Face's success with critics and ratings. Johnson already hinted at endless possibilities for Poker Face after season 1. However, audiences will probably have to wait and see how Charlie's story ends in the first finale before they have a better sense of the future.

Fans should not expect a crossover between Poker Face and Johnson's Knives Out. The filmmaker has already suggested Poker Face is a series that exists within his Knives Out universe. So, the best fans can hope for is an episode of the Peacock series playing in the background in Knives Out 3.

Poker Face season 1 releases new episodes on Fridays on Peacock.
