  • A Pokemon fan artist has created crossover artwork combining Pokemon and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, featuring characters like Rayquaza and Incineroar.
  • The artwork showcases Pokemon that resemble creatures from the Zelda game, such as Incineroar as a Lynel and Rowlet as a Blupee.
  • The fan artist also includes references to older Zelda titles, like a Meowscarada dressed as Skull Kid, and even their own version of Demon Queen Zelda.

A Pokemon fan art imagines Rayquaza, Incineroar, Meowscarada, and more as Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom creatures. Some Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom NPCs are callbacks to its predecessor, while others are entirely unique, and this Pokemon fan has come up with fresh ideas by fusing the two Nintendo franchises together.

The Pokemon and Zelda franchises received new Nintendo Switch entries over the last couple of years, with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, respectively. Because Zelda and Pokemon are Nintendo classics that date back multiple decades, fan art centered around them has circulated the internet since its early days. Given that both series' are fresh on the mind of many Nintendo fans, this Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player has done a mashup focusing on some Pokemon.

Reddit user Vinsear recently shared six images highlighting their combination of Pokemon and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Each art piece focuses on a different Pokemon that resembles something from Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with Incineroar appearing like a Lynel, Rowlet looking identical to a Blupee, and Zapdos mirroring a Divine Beast. The Pokemon dubbed Zonai Zapdos fights with Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's Sage of Lightning Riju. Vinsear's version of Rayquaza is akin to the dragons that already fly around certain parts of the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom map, while Machamp has Gloom Hands and legs rather than his muscular limbs.

Calling back to older Legend of Zelda titles, Vinsear also has a Meowscarada that's dressed as Skull Kid, with its sleeves turned into green gloves and its cape being replaced by dandelion leaves. These changes to Meowscarada give it the wild look of Skull Kid featured in multiple Zelda games, while the Majora's Mask has been adjusted to suit the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter evolution. Beyond the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom crossovers in Vinsear's art, the Zelda fan has included their version of Demon Queen Zelda, the only piece that's not related to Pokemon.

Although The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening includes some Super Mario Bros. characters, it's unlikely that the series will ever have Pokemon in it. Because of this, Vinsear's fan art may be the closest thing to seeing the two Nintendo franchises blended together in such a way. As new regions like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Paldea expand on the Pokemon world map, future Pokemon may resemble things that wouldn't look out of place in other Nintendo IPs.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Nintendo Switch.
