One Pokemon fan has edited an image of Salamence to see what the Dragon and Flying-type Pokemon would look like without its wings. It's not uncommon to see questionable fan-made creature designs shared among the Pokemon community, but this imaginary form of Salamence has fans wondering how it might be different in terms of gameplay, as well as how the Pokemon would be raised without wings.

As many invested Pokemon fans will know, Salamence is a pseudo-legendary Dragon Pokemon that evolves from Shelgon, which first evolves from Bagon. According to the Pokemon's many Pokedex entries throughout the games, players know that Salamence's ability to grow wings during its evolution is due simply to its strong desire to fly. Some fans speculate that a wingless Salamence may be possible if the Pokemon had a low enough willpower, which has given some players ideas on how a wing-lacking Salamence could be implemented in the games as a new form for the species.

The edit was put forth on Reddit by the user hello12445, along with the question to the community on what requirements players might need to meet in order to evolve a wingless Salamence. The post attaches an edited image of a wingless Salamence, which went on to spark plenty of discussion between fans in the comments. The community put forth a surprisingly wide variety of creative ideas, perhaps rendering the idea of a Salamence without wings more of an interesting concept than the original poster first expected.

As may be expected from the Pokemon community, fans quickly went wild coming up with features for a wingless Salamence, whipping up conceptual names, Pokedex entries, evolution requirements and much more. While some players suggested that a low-will Salamence would indicate a lazier personality with a frustrated attitude toward its trainer, others disagreed, instead claiming that this form of Salamence would result from its love for the earth beneath it rather than its choice to give up on learning to fly.

It has been especially popular for existing Pokemon to receive entirely new forms in recent titles over the past few years, such as new Origin Forms for certain legendary Pokemon and regional variants, which give some Pokemon a different aesthetic depending on the environment and region that they live in. The upcoming launch of the next mainline Pokemon games, Scarlet and Violet, is getting fans ready to journey around the Paldea region with even more new Pokemon. With several new forms already revealed for existing Pokemon and others continuing as rumors, many fans are excited to make even more Pokemon friends following the launch of the upcoming games on November 18th.
