The main goal of the Pokemon series is to catch creatures and train them up to take on Gym Leaders to earn badges. In each of the games, there are gyms to take on that increase in difficulty as the players progress.

Some gyms are just too easy for their respective stages in the games; by the time players reach the final gym, they will likely have already amassed an intimidating collection of Pokemon that can breeze through almost any challenge they're faced with. Some gyms, however, are pretty laughable even if the player is lacking a powerful Pokemon collection. This is due to the Gym Leader who resides in said gym only having access to weak Pokemon, and there are several Gym Leaders like this throughout the Pokemon series.

10 Brock - Red, Blue & Yellow, FireRed & LeafGreen, & Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee

Brock In The Pokemon Games

The first gyms are always the easiest in each of the Pokemon games. Some pose a threat to the early-leveled Pokemon that the trainer will have at that point, but with Brock, that isn't the case.

Brock has two Pokemon, a Geodude and an Onix. These are Rock/Ground-type Pokemon, and therefore are weak to two out of three of the starter Pokemon (Bulbasaur & Squirtle), making this gym battle a breeze. Even if the player chose Charmander, there are ways to beat Brock easily. Catching a Mankey from Route 22 is one example.

9 Bugsy - Gold, Silver & Crystal, & HeartGold & SoulSilver

Bugsy In The Pokemon Games

Not every gym leader on this list is an early one, but Bugsy's battle is nothing to write home about. Bugsy has a Metapod, a Kakuna, and a Scyther at his disposal. If the player has chosen Cyndaquil, this battle is trivial, but even if the player is using Totodile or Cyndaquil, it is still easy.

Onix and Geodude are available in the Union Cave and the Dark Cave, which makes this battle a piece of cake, thanks to their powerful Rock Throws. Flying types such as Pidgey and Hoothoot also make this battle lightwork.

8 Larry - Scarlet & Violet

Larry In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Paldea's Larry is the unusual case of being both a Gym Leader and a member of the Elite Four, but this doesn't mean his gym battle is any harder. Normal-types are some of the weakest in the game, as they have no real advantage over anything else.

Larry uses a Komala, a Dunsparce at level 35, and a Staraptor, which is at level 36. Their movesets are not great, and his first two Pokemon can easily be wiped out with a fighting type. Staraptor, which will Terastallize into a pure normal type, only has two moves; Aerial Ace will pose a threat to Fighting-types, but a Rock or Steel-type will dispatch it with no problems.

7 Gordie - Sword

Gordie In Pokemon Sword

Gordie is another Rock-type trainer. A solid Water-type Pokemon sweeps his team, bar Barbaracle, who is weak to Grass. If the player chose Sobble or Grookey, this battle is pretty much already over.

Although his Coalossal does Gigantamax, this is still no problem for the might of water; it is still weak to it. Rock-types are just not strong enough to make fighting Gordie feel like a challenge.

6 Blaine - Red, Blue & Yellow, FireRed & LeafGreen, Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee

Blaine In Pokemon Let's Go Eevee

Blaine is the second-last gym leader of Kanto, and his battle should pose a threat. At this stage of the game, however, his battle is not a challenge. With a team of four pure Fire-types, there are several ways that trainers can go to combat his team. Blastoise, Nidoking, Gyarados, Golem, and Onix are all fine choices that should sweep through the Cinnabar Island leader's squad.

Fire-type Pokemon are all pure fire-types in Generation 1, meaning that there isn't an additional type to counter its weaknesses. Blaine should really branch out from Kanto if he wishes to pose a threat.

5 Kofu - Scarlet & Violet

Kofu In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

On the whole, Scarlet & Violet Gym Leaders are easy, and Kofu is no exception. With a squad of pure Water-types, a Grass or an Electric-type can dispatch his Pokemon with no mercy. Both of these types are common across Paldea.

Kofu's Veluza has Pluck, and his Wugtrio has Mud-Slap, but these moves can be avoided by using the right type against them. Crabominable is a Fighting/Ice-type, but it Terastallizes into a Water-type, which only makes the fight easier. These Pokemon teams need more variation, especially in the later editions.

4 Clay - Black & White, Black2, & White2

Clay In The Pokemon Generations Anime

As the fifth Gym Leader of Unova, Clay should pose more of a threat than he does, but his team of Ground-types pose no threat to the player. Krokorok is his lead, which can be taken down by Water or Fighting-types. Sandlash is next, which can be dispatched in a similar fashion.

Clay's ace is an Excadrill, which is a very good Pokemon in its own right, but it is no match for a solid Fighting-type Pokemon that can easily be acquired by this point in the game.

3 Olympia - X & Y

Olympia In The Pokemon Anime

Olympia is the second to last Gym Leader of Kalos, and it's hard to believe it, considering the Pokemon she uses. By this stage in the game, the player will have established their team. If they have a Dark-type, like the fan-favorite Greninja, then this battle will be over quickly.

The three Pokemon Olympia relies on are Sigilyph, Slowking, and Meowstic, all with movesets that can do nothing against Dark-types. Meowstick can use Shadow Ball, but that is the only counter players will need to watch out for.

2 Volkner - Diamond, Pearl & Platinum

Volkner In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Volkner is the final Gym Leader of Sinnoh, and he has two different types of teams to take on. If the player is playing Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, his original team has an Ambipom and an Octillery, which are normal and Water-type respectively.

But Volkner's Platinum team is pure-Electric. A Ground-type makes the battle a breeze, as it renders their Electric moves useless. If the player has a Garchomp or Gabite at this point, they will be able to walk all over Volker and his Pokemon companions.

1 Wallace - Ruby & Sapphire

Wallace In The Pokemon Anime

Wallace is another final Gym Leader. He mainly relies on Water-types, and by this stage in the game, the trainer's team should be well-balanced and equipped to deal with them.

Wallace does have a few Ice-type moves to deal with Grass-types, but with the right switching of Pokemon, this final battle is surprisingly easy. Even Juan, who replaces Wallace in Emerald, isn't much harder, although he does have some more variation in his team, including a part Dragon-type in Kingdra.
